Aspiring Dreams: September 2011
http://aspiringdreams.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 7 September 2011. I have often had to be reminded of my finiteness. The trouble is that there is too much good stuff to do or try, and time seems to be flying by. Many times I have found myself feeling frustrated that I do not have the time (or the energy) to do all that I would like to do, and feel the passage of time strongly. From 2005/06, available from the St. Ebbe's Website. Which is a bit like a fish saying "isn't it wet? So, rather than feeling frustrated that there is so little time t...

Aspiring Dreams: February 2011
http://aspiringdreams.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Friday, 18 February 2011. The irony of effort based marking. As you may have noticed from my previous posts, I've been taking a course in Behavioural Finance.* Yesterday, the professor announced that he wasn't going to mark and give back our earlier assignments, but instead he would mark them based on effort, and that as he was happy with everyone's effort he was going to award everyone full marks. Argghhh. okay, frustration vented. Saturday, 5 February 2011. Our approach, which forces our funds to syste...

Aspiring Dreams: The unsinkable Titanic...
http://aspiringdreams.blogspot.com/2011/02/unsinkable-titanic.html
Saturday, 5 February 2011. Since my last post on behavioural finance was such a hit, I thought I would share a gem from a recent case study. Our approach, which forces our funds to systematically overweight value stocks, means that our investment behaviour is changed. We are forced to focus on out of fashion stocks that we wouldn't naturally have bothered with and that means that we cannot fall into the same overconfidence trap.". 6 February 2011 at 00:57. Aspiring Dreams: October 2011
http://aspiringdreams.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, 8 October 2011. Sunday, 2 October 2011. Last weekend, we let Charles out. He normally lives in our bedroom, but since he had generally been well behaved, we decided to allow him to have the run of the house. He quickly found a cool place to hang out:. And wears nice hats:. However, it seems that he can be a bit mischievous. like when he hijacked Laura's computer:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Enter your email address:. Awesome Inc. theme. Powered by Blogger.

Aspiring Dreams: Nathan Tasker
http://aspiringdreams.blogspot.com/2011/11/nathan-tasker.html
Sunday, 13 November 2011. This is a post that I've been meaning to write for a while, but haven't gotten around to. Earlier this year, I went to the London Men's Convention, where Nathan Tasker performed a number of his songs. So who is he? He's an Australian singer/songwriter now based in Nashville. I've particularly enjoyed listening to his music this year. I find that his songs have really thought provoking lyrics. I think my favourite song (one he performed at the LMC) is Narrow. Before I fall behind.

Aspiring Dreams: January 2011
http://aspiringdreams.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 26 January 2011. Get your hands out of my pockets! This is a topic that came up in my Behavioural Finance class this last week. It actually aggravated me a great deal, and as Laura can attest, I have spent much of the last week musing over it. So, since it's been on my mind, I thought I would share my thoughts on the subject. But how are these scenarios different from the pension fund auto-enrolment? So I think that there is much that behavioural finance can offer to help individuals to make b...

Aspiring Dreams: Chocoholics Anonymous
http://aspiringdreams.blogspot.com/2011/09/chocoholics-anonymous.html
Wednesday, 7 September 2011. Continuing the latest ice cream theme. We had another go this weekend. We made white chocolate ice cream, with a dark chocolate sauce. It went beautifully with everyone's favourite brownies:. The white chocolate ice cream was pretty good (we added white rum, but if I were doing it again, I would certainly go for dark rum for a sweeter and richer flavour). Any guesses as to what it might be? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Enter your email address:.
