A dog's journey to Wales and back
August | 2011 | thefloatingdog
https://thefloatingdog.wordpress.com/2011/08
A dog's journey to Wales and back. Monthly Archives: August 2011. Journey’s end…. August 31, 2011. I had promised to return by the end of August and we found this last day of motoring pleasant indeed. Moving down the Coventry Canal with no more locks to come, we rounded Nuneaton and approached Bedworth, marvelling at the ancient spoil heaps from mining and noted that this was the country George Eliot grew up in. Which explains a lot. Would have been worth listening to,. How did you get that flat nose, Ma?

A dog's journey to Wales and back. August 24, 2011. Everyone loves a disaster, but not us. Well here we are at the heart of Wolverhampton, half way up the 21 locks to the centre of the city. I have three things to report:. For the last week it feels like the clutch has been slipping, today the drive ceased completely so we cannot move in either direction. A coupling between the propeller shaft and the gear box has broken in half. The gearbox hasn’t been manufactured for thirty years. So what’s plan B?

A dog's journey to Wales and back. August 26, 2011. A black smoke and blubber day…. Thursday 25 August 2011. Grim though some of the day had been, as Michael remarked, nothing could be as bad as being in an upturned boat on a frozen ice floe, keeping ourselves warm through a smoking blubber stove. Our faces were red from the sunshine, not black from the grime of the stove. Unlike other adventures we knew where comfort lay. Next post →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

A dog's journey to Wales and back. Stella is keen on wildlife, especially if it’s untidy and needs rounding up. All ducks passing by are inspected and she has her place on the deck peering round the sides of the cabin at the water ahead, ears to the wind. Watch the main site for daily information. August 1, 2011. Great plan. Go well Peter, Stella and the Lady Violet. And Christine maybe for some? August 1, 2011. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

A dog's journey to Wales and back. The Boatswain in disgrace and supplies of flapjack at a critical level…. August 22, 2011. Shropshire Union Canal. Last night we moored above the Hack Green locks in Cheshire, close by the secret nuclear bunker which is now a museum. Will we make Polaris a museum too? Locks done well 23 (vg) on our own the Boatswain helping when not in disgrace (see above). Locks done badly 2 (ng), owing to the rope slipping off the mooring pin while waiting on a lock and the boat drifti...

Just think positively? Okay, that’s easy. I can create things into my life? The book was great because it gave me a very good general understandin...

Life's Roads, Cool Snapshots, Food For Thought. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Life as We Know it. Life as we Know It…. Recently (and quite honestly a bit ironically) conversations have been revolving around this very thought that I keep having…”what exactly is life? 8221; I can’t help but wonder what life really means to an individual. I wonder if people feel as though they are truly their own entity or do they feel like they flow with this world in which we live. Let’s start with my opinion. To us, it is...
