The Journey Journal - On and off the beaten path in Vienna - The Journey Journal

http://thejourneyjournal.com/on-and-off-the-beaten-path-in-vienna

On and off the beaten path in Vienna. September 28, 2015. From history to inovation in Viennese museums. The Natural History Museum. In Vienna is one of the reasons why I became a biologist. Walking in the old halls always evoked my respect. So much knowledge and wisdom accumulated there over the centuries. Right opposite the Natural History Museum is the Museum of Fine Arts. The square where these buildings are situated is called Maria-Theresien-Platz and is dominated by a statue of Empress Maria Theresa.

http://thejourneyjournal.com/kangerlussuaq-the-gateway-to-the-greenland-ice-sheet

Kangerlussuaq, the gateway to the Greenland ice sheet. October 23, 2015. Russell Glacier by plane. We followed the river upstream and along the glacial valley we arrived to the ice sheet, an endless mass of ice that goes as far as you can see. What more shall I say… I’ll rather let speak the pictures. My first ever muskox burger! A small plane by Air Zafari took us to the ice sheet. We followed the river upstream, towards the glacier. The magnificent first view of the glacier. The endless ice sheet.

http://thejourneyjournal.com/clouds

October 4, 2015. One day we are just hiking in Greenland and there are these crazy clouds, which look like if somebody painted them. I’ve heard that they are associated with strong winds and really, it was super windy those days. I kept complaining about the wind until the other guys started to make jokes about my dislike of wind. World Thirst: 5 Exotic Teas and Coffees You Should Try. May 05, 2015. Anyone with not too weak a stomach disposition will probably agree that sampling exotic local fare is an integral – and one of the funnest – parts of travel. It is also a passion and favourite writing topic of all kinds of bloggers, and there are so many articles out there about the world foods you should try! With that realization, I decided to dedicate some space on this blog to quenching my – and your – world thirst! In fact, I hate...

And that’s how my eagerly-awaited black-water rafting adventure begun…. What is that anyway? As it turns out, my assiduous preparation was all for nothing:. 8216;black-water rafting’ is completely misnamed – the water is not black, and it’s not rafting. About me & the blog. 10 Brutally Honest Travel Confessions. July 14, 2015. I’ve always said it doesn’t matter. You see the world, as long as you go out and see it. So I’d like to share with you a few of my travel confessions today. Some were in my head for a long time now, but I never got the chance to say them out loud or type them. http://www.alexinwanderland.com/2015/05/05/volcano-boarding-in-nicaragua

Volcano Boarding in León. Long before I ever booked a flight to Nicaragua, there was one activity I knew I’d be signing up for: volcano boarding. Like partying at Sunday Funday in San Juan del Sur. Volcano boarding in León is just one of those things backpackers go, do, and get the t-shirt for — literally. Though you could book the excursion anywhere around town, I went with the original — Bigfoot Hostel. I was up for a. Exercise, I said.
