Scotland, June 2014. The far north west, Durness. Rocks of northern Scotland – an interesting display in a little park at Bonar Bridge. A welcome find on a wet afternoon in Durness. Chocolate truffles and coffee at Cocoa Mountain. The churchyard at Balnakeil. Cattle on the beach at Balnakeil Bay. At the far end of Balnakail Bay, the road to Faraid Head. A less than friendly welcome at Faraid Head, . Just a poster with views of inaccessible places controlled by the MoD. The inlet at Kearvaig.

New England, October 2014. Start of the "Freedom Trail", on Boston Common, showing the State House. Statue of Ben Franklin, outside Old City Hall. In Quincy Market, a shop devoted entirely to kitsch Christmas decorations. Paul Revere's house (c.1680), unfortunately obscured by builders' vans. Boats on the Charles River, with the rotunda of the MIT campus on the opposite shore. We had our lobster dinner at another Kennebunkport restaurant, the Pilot House. Kennebunkport, Sunday morning.

On November 27, 2011 9:57 PM. I'm falling behind with the blog again! Here's what's been going on with us:. The second day we headed up Nine Mile Canyon to see the Indian petroglyphs that are there. It was quite a long drive to get up to the first site and the roads were awful! The tire situation kind of put a damper on our third day of fun, so while everyone else went up to Crystal Hot Springs we stayed home and had two new tires put on the van. I guess this is the year of tire adventures for our van.
