Celebrating the unique paths on which God is leading our family. The past month has been an amazing time of growth in the work among the Kabiye. Thirty-eight people have been baptized in three different villages and a church has been planted in a village (Kitangoli) that we missionaries have never visited. This growth, coming at the time of our departure, gives us great joy as it shows that the work we began in Togo will continue on without us, and that God is in. We plan to make our move to Kigali, Rwan...

Celebrating the unique paths on which God is leading our family. A nature hike with my dad: a journal entry (by Asher Miller). Last weekend my dad and I went on a nature walk on Mt. Bisoke. It was really fun but it was a long walk to get to the entrins. There was a deep dich whith 3 logs on it so the animals like buffalows couldn’t get out of the park. When we were walking there was a stump that we walked over and on the other side was an earthworm! It was an inch wide and like a meater long! Love you, M...

Celebrating the unique paths on which God is leading our family. Biking Rwanda with Abby. 8221;😀 I would like to share with all of you some of the experiences that I have had while doing this. Everywhere that I go there are kids (and sometimes adults too) that will shout out at me, “Muzungu! 8221; (White Person! 8221; (But of course, they say it in Kinyarwanda! This is not in the least bit fun. Whenever this happens I just stop my bike, and look at them. and they’ll run away. Well, these are most of the...

Celebrating the unique paths on which God is leading our family. This is one of the most common words to be heard in our family these days. We find ourselves in a season of ‘lasts’ as we prepare to leave our home of 10 1/2 years, Togo, for a new country and new ministry. Covering over everything is a deep sense of peace that comes from the clear call God has given us to move to Rwanda. Transition calendar: April 24th, 2011 –Leave Kara for Accra. April 25th –Fly from Accra New Zeland. We have imported in ...

Celebrating the unique paths on which God is leading our family. Archive September, 2012. Making a basket; building a friendship. Ever since our first visit to Africa in 1996, I have been amazed at the beauty of handmade baskets. During our time in Nyamata I had an opportunity to actually learn to make these beauties. Although the one that I made was small, the experience and work put into it was eye-opening. I may never bargain for another basket again! Next came the stripping of the leaves. This yo...

Is Kinyarwanda for Follow! This blog is about a team in Rwanda that is trying to initiate a movement of Jesus followers who transform their nation! The Discovery Bible Study (DBS) process addresses both the need for practical training in discipleship that is central to the final command of Jesus and facilitates the organic, built-together functioning that is central to the picture of community in the early church. How does DBS do this? Pray together about these things. I hope I have demonstrated how th D...

Is Kinyarwanda for Follow! This blog is about a team in Rwanda that is trying to initiate a movement of Jesus followers who transform their nation! Does prayer really matter? During each of my 12 years working in Africa, if you had asked me if I believed that prayer was important, I would have quickly answered, “Yes! They are in the harvest! What was the next role of the disciples? To go out and find those that God was raising up himself! What role does prayer play in the way you approach your ministry?

December 30, 2012 · Filed under Uncategorized. 8220;If God could do something great in your life, to really change you, what would that look like? 8221;–Jesse Shanks. Why did my family come to Togo? Those lesser motivations are there in my heart. Am I some kind of super-strange religious fanatic to think that He would speak to us through dreams? But here in this place, those things cannot hold me up. I truly enjoy visiting the Kabiye churches every other Sunday, and I’ve been able to tag along ...There a...
