Life as we know it. Just love…why 127? July 5, 2012. Im writing this through drenched and tired eyes, just hoping to get my thoughts out, for myself really. This is in memory of my Dad. {If you didn’t know…we found out the bad news. About 2 months ago}. The pain right now is absoulutely tangible. Its thick and real and it just hurts so. This is my very first REAL encounter with death. Which means I have been blessed, I guess. I don’t feel grateful. I feel. He is so far from perfect. Grew up. Because ...

Paths: Two Years
http://5gsplus.blogspot.com/2012/11/two-years.html
A story about the paths we choose. In particular, paths that led us to adding to our family in an unconventional way. Thursday, November 29, 2012. Two years ago today there were many firsts. The first time I'd experience a sunrise in Africa. The first time I'd heard the chants from the Ethiopian Orthodox churches. The first time I woke to the sounds of goats, donkeys, roosters, and children in the streets. The first daylight drive through Addis Ababa. The first time I saw those blue gates in person.

7,739 Miles Away. Our Ethiopian adoption story. Thursday, January 16, 2014. Three years. THREE YEARS! On this day three years ago, John and I landed in Ethiopia. It was a beautiful, sunny Sunday and I will never forget how happy my heart was as our plane descended into Addis Ababa that morning. Our girl was there and the very next morning we would check her out of the orphanage FOR GOOD! It is hard for me to believe that it has been three years since we took her into our arms for good. She has grown ...

NOW We Are Six. Friday, March 15, 2013. The first time ever I saw your face.remembered. I can hardly believe that today marks one year since we first held our baby girls in our arms in the Widows and Orphans Home in Adama. I will never forget what it felt like to hold them close taking in the miracle. We were living out in that very moment. To commemorate this sweetest of days I wanted to post some pics of our first meeting :). Posted by Nick and Millie. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

7,739 Miles Away: Beautiful Things
http://7739milesaway.blogspot.com/2013/09/beautiful-things.html
7,739 Miles Away. Our Ethiopian adoption story. Saturday, September 21, 2013. I knew when we embarked on our adoption journey that one of the challenges we would face would be to help our child process her story. In theory, that didn't sound so complex. However, once we saw our daughter's face, knew her name, and learned about her story, that became a whole different ballgame. Why did her friends take care of her? One of my favorite songs is Beautiful Things. I wonder if I'll ever find my way? You make b...

7,739 Miles Away: January 2013
http://7739milesaway.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
7,739 Miles Away. Our Ethiopian adoption story. Monday, January 28, 2013. Part of my heart. Last night, we watched the video that we took on Addie's birthday last year. Oh the memories! It was a special day that I will never forget. In addition to video of our time with Addie, there was also footage of Addis as we were driving through the city. Seeing that just made me long to go back. Ethiopia will always hold a special place in our hearts and I look forward to returning there someday. The first time I ...
