Adventures of a Grad Student. Monday, September 10, 2012. Got home this morning from a fun weekend with my family. We met in Nashville and then drove over to Asheville, NC, for a fun couple days of hiking and sightseeing. It was an old-fashioned family vacation! It was also the first time I'd seen my brother in more than a year. I hope I don't always have to wait that long to see him, though I am glad he is enjoying his time in grad school at the University of Washington. Lawrence, Kansas, United States.

Adventures of a Grad Student. Friday, August 26, 2011. The End of Summer. I started my 3rd year of grad school this week. Added to the stress of classes this fall is the pressure of finishing my Master's thesis. So far things are going well, and hopefully it will continue that way. It was awesome to have a 10-day get-away vacation right before I had to get back to the grind. My brother and I drove to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks. It was AMAZING! Adventures of a Grad Student. Saturday, October 29, 2011. I have scheduled my Master's thesis defense. It's a scary and exhilarating idea - to defend my thesis. It means I have to justify why I did the study I did and explain what I found and why it is important. It also means that my last two full years of work haven't been for naught. Adventures of a Grad Student. Monday, December 12, 2011. I found out today that I've had mono since sometime in October. Who knew? I didn't have most of the visible symptoms, which is why we realize it until now, but I definitely had the constant exhaustion and lack of motivation. At least now I know why. I felt so out of sorts this fall! Hopefully a good solid week at home without work or school will help me get over it. And yes, this means I did defend my Master's thesis while I had mono. Oh, the irony.

Adventures of a Grad Student. Tuesday, January 17, 2012. I've also started going to Zumba! At the student rec center. I'm planning to add a couple more KU Fit classes (yoga, step and/or BodyPump), but I've made it through 2 Zumba classes so far. I'm worn out after, but for the most part I'm enjoying myself.
