Where am I now? Saturday, 28 February 2015. Having been to Hobbiton we had to go to the studios where they made the costumes, weapons and creatures featured in the films. Where am I now? Balungi: A love story in two parts. October 11, 2013. I have fallen in love. A couple of weeks ago I was wandering around the Ugandan Tourism Expo. And feeling a little disappointed at what was on offer. Then, I saw it, my day instantly brightened and I had a new love in my life. Amid the usual tour company stands and stalls selling touristy knick-knacks was a stall that stood out for its simple colour scheme, originality and style. I am talking, of course, of design Balungi. Uganda is a ...

Where am I now? Gorilla trekking in the impenetrable forest. November 19, 2013. If you are thinking of coming to see the gorillas in Uganda I have two pieces of advice. The first is to DO IT. Gorillas in the wild are special. The second is to hire a porter. The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Gorilla trekking is pretty pricey, partly because of the permit which alone costs $500. However, if you don’t mind getting wet then a permit in one of the two rainy seasons. We started at the Ugandan Wildlife Authority ...

Where am I now? Things to do in Kigali, Rwanda. November 27, 2013. I popped over to Rwanda at the weekend,. Where am I now? Tuesday, 26 August 2014. Well, we've been here a week and this is the first campsite that we have stayed on that has WiFi. Staying on Aires is cheap and they are usually in interesting places but we are enjoying the calm space and the hot showers. After arriving in France we stayed overnight in Le Crotoy before moving on to Chartres. As a medieval town it has lots of timbered houses. There were some wonderful carvings in the cathedral. Saturday, 9 August 2014. Using up fabric - part three.

Where am I now? Wednesday, 14 May 2014. It's All in the Print. This was a workshop being run yesterday by Art Van Go. As they are in Knebworth and I am working at Duxford (about 30 minutes away) I thought I would go along for a play. The first thing we did was to grid up the white fabric with masking tape. When the paint was dry we removed the masking tape. The masking tape was saved to be reused. This masking tape was then repositioned on the fabric. A second colour was added. Tuesday, 6 May 2014. It wa...
