One More Folded Sunset: Poet in New York

One More Folded Sunset. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Poet in New York. There's still a city to love. What a surprise to get off the N at Canal and Lafayette this afternoon to find this. The giant mural celebrating Federico García Lorca appeared just a few weeks ago (see Bedford and Bowery post below). It was created by Spanish artist Sex: El Niño de las Pinturas (Raúl Ruiz) and Brooklyn artist Cern. No duerme nadie por el cielo. Nadie, nadie. Las criaturas de la luna huelen y rondan sus cabañas. Jeremiah's ...

One More Folded Sunset. Sunday, August 9, 2015. Sometime over the last two or three years the unassuming Z Supermarket (Avenue Z) became a Deli Grocery, and acquired an illustrated menu guide on its side wall. Beautiful! Sunday, August 09, 2015. One More Folded Sunset: My Seedy Home
http://www.onemorefoldedsunset.com/2015/08/my-seedy-home.html
One More Folded Sunset. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. From the 1939 WPA Guide to New York City. Prospect Park West is an equally fine neighborhood, which west of Sixth Avenue changes into an area of seedy houses, industrial plants, and warehouses. In the latter section dwells a small colony of Newfoundlanders, known to the neighborhood as "blue noses" or "fish," who gain a livelihood on the fishing smacks that go down to the sea from Sheepshead Bay. Off to the Central Library to dig around. Poet in New York.

One More Folded Sunset: Following Up (1)
http://www.onemorefoldedsunset.com/2015/01/following-up-1.html
One More Folded Sunset. Thursday, January 8, 2015. In October I took a stroll along Prospect Avenue. To see how the red-hot real estate market was playing out there. Along the way, I noticed that a parcel of buildings close to Fourth (189-195) was advertised for sale. A couple of months later I noticed that a parcel of buildings, right around the corner on Fourt. H, was in contract. Both sets of properties can be seen at this corner shot of Fourth and Prospect. Thursday, January 08, 2015. The Geek is Gone.

One More Folded Sunset. Monday, August 3, 2015. Here's a nice surprise. Milan's restaurant windows now sport two Slovak-themed scenes. A TEVD 22 chugging along a narrow-gauge track in the High Tatras,. And a mountain view that I venture. To guess is from the same area. Monday, August 03, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). One More Folded Sunset. Thursday, August 6, 2015. 816,(with 816A), and 817 (with 817A) were sold last month to the same buyer, for asking price.
