I Was Just Watching a Movie . Saturday, 15 August 2015. I've Just Seen: Ninotchka (1939). I loved this film. No surprise really: it's a romantic comedy from '30s/'40s Hollywood, directed by one of the best directors of the genre. Ninotchka. Unless you hate romantic comedies, black-and-white films or subversive portrayals of politcal philosophies, you should enjoy this film. 15 August 2015 at 09:08. Even if there was nothing else to the movie than Garbos hardline communist it would still be a wonderful mo...

I Was Just Watching a Movie . Friday, 14 August 2015. I've Just Seen: Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015). Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. I remember seeing the first two Mission: Impossible. Films many, many years ago. I did find the first one fun and exciting, with the vault scene a highlight. Of the second film, I only remember clocking the Sydney landmarks featured in the film ('hey, the Sydney Opera House! I was only twelve.). Based on Rogue Nation. As my favourite action film, Rogue Nation.

I Was Just Watching a Movie . Sunday, 30 August 2015. I've Just Seen: Man on Wire (2008). I am terrified of heights. I barely coped walking across the Harbour Bridge (not over the arches, just across the flat part! I do enjoy looking out at beautiful scenery, be it from tall buildings or cliff tops, but one look straight down and I suddenly feel incredibly unstable (and begin internally freaking out! Is partly a love letter to these two buildings. This is a wonderful, awe-inspiring documentary. It sp...

Neon Kino: Jitters ★★★☆☆
http://neonklaws.blogspot.com/2012/04/jitters.html
Thursday, 12 April 2012. Jitters ★★★☆☆. For all intensive purposes, Baldvin Zophoníasson's Jitters (Órói, 2010) seems like little more than an Icelandic interpretations of Channel 4's Skins - a coming of age drama full of rambunctious adolescent misbehaviour. However, whilst easy to pigeon-hole as a piece of teenage cultural trash, if you give Zophoníasson's nuanced film an opportunity you’ll discover a powerfully emotive and honest insight to the harrowing journey adolescence can be. Titanic 3D ★&...

Starring Gina Rodriguez, Chrissie Fit and Lou 'Diamond' Phillips, this hip hop-infused drama sadly struggles to find its voice amongst its myriad of ill-advised sub-plots. Labels: ★★☆☆☆. Thursday, 12 April 2012. Las Acacias ★★★★☆. Winner of the Sutherland award at this year’s London Film Festival as well as the prestigious Camera D’or at Cannes, Pablo Giorgelli’s slow burning road movie, Las Acacias is an inventive, yet low key affair which whilst lacking in engaging dialogue is bustling with intriguing character development.
