Theological Liberal: The history and use of the flaming chalice symbol in the Unitarian Universalist church
http://mackenziefye-uu.blogspot.com/2009/05/history-and-use-of-flaming-chalice.html
Thursday, May 14, 2009. The history and use of the flaming chalice symbol in the Unitarian Universalist church. The Unitarian Universalist’s symbol is a flame within a chalice (a wide-lipped stemmed cup). The picture above shows multiple versions of this beautiful symbol. Our opening prayer (depending on the church) goes something like this. 8220;We light this chalice. To treat all people kindly. Because they are our brothers and sisters. To take good care of the earth,. Because it is our home. These we ...

Theological Liberal: April 2009

Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Interpreting the Psalms with help from St. Aug's Christian Teaching. But I like his line on pg: 37 saying that “…to know these books; not necessarily understand them but to read them so as to commit them to memory or at least make them not totally unfamiliar.” This line explains exactly what I did; I read the psalms and even though I definitely didn’t completely understand them, they are no longer totally new to me. Theological Liberal: From Babi to Baha'i .... an interesting journey.
http://mackenziefye-uu.blogspot.com/2009/05/from-babi-to-bahai-interesting-journey.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2009. From Babi to Baha'i . an interesting journey. May 27, 2009 at 1:04 PM. Nice commentary. The religion has indeed spread - there are now probably more than 10 million Baha'is in most of the 200-ish countries of the planet. Leadership in the religion is something mostly novel in religious history. We have no clergy who have the responsibility of running/managing the community. We do have appointed individuals to advise but actual decisions are made by Assembies. Home of the Food Gods.

Theological Liberal: A story that represents how women kick ass :)
http://mackenziefye-uu.blogspot.com/2009/05/story-that-represents-how-women-kick.html
Tuesday, May 12, 2009. A story that represents how women kick ass :). Couldn't help but name it this - I mean, the Queen of Sheba ruled for 6 years with no man by her side, made a man promise not to "take her by force" and then changes the line of Kings from Solomonic line to her blood line starting with their child (Menelik). One word . awesome. Stories, such as the one of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, help to relay the past culture and beliefs of an area. Summing up this story into a paragraph:.
