A Man's Spirit Journey: November 2013
http://mansspiritjourney.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
A Man's Spirit Journey. My search into my soul, and pondering who I am, where I am from, and where I am going. Saturday, November 23, 2013. Walking on Life's Path. I don’t know it all. And, I never will. But, in this journey of curiosity, inquiry, the anticipation of what may be around the corner, and the meeting of what I haven’t figured out yet, lies the excitement. The learning curve still have a pretty good slope to it, keeping my journey as a healthy form of exercise, on all levels. I’ve alway...

A Man's Spirit Journey: February 2014
http://mansspiritjourney.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
A Man's Spirit Journey. My search into my soul, and pondering who I am, where I am from, and where I am going. Friday, February 21, 2014. Today, I am healing from surgery, from lasers cutting eyelid skin, sutures lifting and resizing my eyelids, restoring my peripheral vision I am healing so that I can experience the world in a richer, more complete way. This process is a metaphor of my struggles as a man, to be able to see my wounds, and to take the steps I need to heal, and to be a complete, whole man.

A Man's Spirit Journey: May 2015
http://mansspiritjourney.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
A Man's Spirit Journey. My search into my soul, and pondering who I am, where I am from, and where I am going. Friday, May 29, 2015. This was a week of planting flowers. A few days ago, I’m able to tend some flowers in our town’s community garden. Over a cup of coffee, a young man and I talk about changing attitudes in this community. Two street preachers have periodically shown up on Main Street, condemning homosexual love, accosting young people, telling them they are going to hell. Bigotry and fear ru...

A Man's Spirit Journey: Gathering At The Tree Stump
http://mansspiritjourney.blogspot.com/2015/04/gathering-at-tree-stump.html
A Man's Spirit Journey. My search into my soul, and pondering who I am, where I am from, and where I am going. Monday, April 6, 2015. Gathering At The Tree Stump. He knelt down by the fresh stump, his finger counting the rings. 8220;Thirty seven,” he said. 8220;Smell it, taste it if you want,” I said. “You can taste the freshness of pine.”. Only one man was brave enough to take me up on my offer, touching his finger to the fresh gob of pine pitch, his eyes widening when his tongue confirmed my opinion.

Muse of South Prairie: October 2012
http://museofsouthprairie.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Muse of South Prairie. Thursday, October 4, 2012. Ever have a day where everything goes awry, one damn thing after another? Where if you were smart, you’d go back to bed, but you’re washing the bedding because the cat puked in it, so you can’t? So, I place my coffee, banana, and zucchini bread on the—WHAT? Well, what did YOU have for breakfast, Mr. Ding-Dong and Tootsie Pop? At least MY breakfast had a vegetable in it. No cat’s ever been killed by a pile of towels, I reason. I sop and mop. Transporti...

Muse of South Prairie: March 2011
http://museofsouthprairie.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Muse of South Prairie. Sunday, March 20, 2011. I am stunned and dismayed by all the political attacks against teachers and education programs this spring, instigated by those who say out one side of their mouths education is important and needs more funding, and then out the other side of their mouths defund what they say should be improved. Huh? Am I living in the Brave New World? 1984, with all this Doublespeak? I'm saddened to learn that something that works may be no more, that teachers searching for...

Muse of South Prairie: July 2011
http://museofsouthprairie.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Muse of South Prairie. Friday, July 22, 2011. Giggling Gophers and Gutt. I’ve been plagued with gophers this summer, like every other summer here at Happy House Farm. Usually I employ a gopher getter who traps for me $10 a gopher or mole. I think it’s a great deal, but at the start of summer he had carpal tunnel surgery, so I was left to fend for myself. She had dispatched 26 moles with it the summer before. She told me where to buy one and I bought one. I set it up and waited. I waited a long time.

Muse of South Prairie: December 2011
http://museofsouthprairie.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Muse of South Prairie. Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Remembrance of My Dad. My father, Ernest George Keltz, died December 15, 2011, at the age of 90. This is what I read at his funeral:. Philosophers have long tried to determine what qualities make the measure of a man. I think all they need do is gather at a celebration of his life, like this one, to know the answer. Such wonderful posts by grandchildren JC, Courtney, Kathy, Sean and more to come, I’m sure. Another quality our father demonstrated was that...

A Man's Spirit Journey: April 2014
http://mansspiritjourney.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
A Man's Spirit Journey. My search into my soul, and pondering who I am, where I am from, and where I am going. Friday, April 11, 2014. He tightens each string, checking the tuning, a smile creeping over his face as he realizes his violin now has a clearer, brand new tone. Yes, he can do this. He can restring his violin, a new task is learned, and a big accomplishment is made. We work quietly, offering each other suggestions, each contributing a finger to hold a string, or add a bit of tension, only a wor...
