Sunday, July 5, 2015. Reminiscing of summer camp. It all started with my first breakfast ride as a camper when a Nellie, the trip counselor, woke me around 5:00 am and asked,"Want to go for a breakfast ride? 5 Day trip - campsite along the Mettawee at Aunt Eunice's. Travels With Harley: High octane Halawa Moon

http://travelswithharleymoon.blogspot.com/2015/04/high-octane-halawa-moon.html

Wednesday, April 8, 2015. High octane Halawa Moon. Our rides have been sporadic, squeezed in between spring house cleaning, boiling sap, and relentless cold windy days. I've only ridden Harley solo on two mild, sunny afternoons when I've found him snoozing in the field. I convinced myself each time that it should be a "quiet ride". Hah! To be fair, John pointed out to me that when I've truly needed. When he wants to go, hang on! Don't worry, my boy, sultry summer days lie ahead. View my complete profile.

Travels With Harley: And in today's featured ride...an ungulate joins us for some fun

http://travelswithharleymoon.blogspot.com/2015/07/and-in-todays-featured-ridean-ungulate.html

Wednesday, July 1, 2015. And in today's featured ride.an ungulate joins us for some fun. We determined he was a wether. I said to John, "Let's see what he does at the foot bridge. I'll bet he uses it." John replied,"If he does, hang on, because that will certainly spook Harley! Well the goat surprised us both and hopped from stone to stone, ignoring the foot bridge. Butch was waiting, as I expected, and I apologized for the delay. He saw the goat and exclaimed, "Where did you get the goat?

Travels With Harley: Still horse-crazy after all these years

http://travelswithharleymoon.blogspot.com/2015/05/still-horse-crazy-after-all-these-years.html

Sunday, May 31, 2015. Still horse-crazy after all these years. As my toe throbbed under an ice pack, I realized my slower reaction times and balance are not as sharp as when I was twenty. Now that I'm pushing 55, I don't mend quite as quickly either! But all the pain has been worth the joy our three horses have brought me, starting with our first horse, Halawa Moon, known around the barn as Harley, and sometimes as, "Gnarley Harley" if he's being particularly opinionated. Snoozy Rolex in the morning.

Travels With Harley: The back side of winter...at last!

http://travelswithharleymoon.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-back-side-of-winterat-last.html

Saturday, March 14, 2015. The back side of winter.at last! Winter's back is finally broken.we hope. Temperatures soared into the 40's on Monday; a promise that spring was truly coming. As snow dripped off the eaves, it even sounded like spring. We tapped the trees, the sweetest joy of spring dripping into the buckets. But without the proper rise and fall of temperature, the sap won't flow. Thursday morning brought more snow in a short-lived blast; enough to cover the roads. Just another "ha-ha! The clear...

Life's a feast, and you're invited! This blog is a hearty call, to the table and to the wild. Our meal at @lacabrera mnl was a carnivore’s dream come true, the type I could imagine having at the original La Cabrera in Buenos Aires, named one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in Latin America. It started out with provoleta con jamón crudo, provolone cheese bubbling on a hot plate topped with translucent prosciutto. It was a standout and a portent of things to come. Another Teresita Razon specialty you mu...

Come, my friends, 'tis not too late to seek a newer world…. October 29, 2014. We like to tent close together …. Funny how I never feel more at home than when I’m leaving it. Or at least leaving (for me) the emotionally complicated confines of Southern California, where this minor character was born and raised. Preferably by my dear old escape route: Highway 1 North along the coast. There’s a campsite I like in San Simeon.
