I talked about finding ftp servers on a LAN using nmap in a previous post. Well, looks like I got a better alternative to nmap. And what is it? Nmap -n -P0 -p 21 - max rtt timeout 100 - max retries 0 -oG ftpLog.gnmap -iL IPs.txt. I also tried using min parallelism option and min hostgroup option but they didn't provide any speedup. The logic behind this algo is explained here. Note that this algo does not use any approximation. Its 100% accurate. The O(1) alogs available for this use approximation and MAY give wrong answers for some value of n. Note that F(0)=0 and F(1)=1. Note that when n is large, fib(n) won't fit in integer. Else / if even.

And we completed it in a record time of 1 hour 15 minutes on our small electric stove.
