Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Bowmore 14 yo (2001/2016), TSC, 50 %. This is a single cask from cask number 31931 from the bottler The Single Cask. Only 90 bottles were made. Light white fruits, very light citrus and light peat in the smell. Yes, light is a theme here! Some heather as well. The peat is the first that hits the tongue, but still light as in the smell. Monday, January 9, 2017. Glenrothes 17 yo (1997/2015), Chapter 7, 54,5 %. This is from the series “A Whisky Anthology. It is from a Bourbon hogshead and only 219 bottles were made. Sweet at first in the smell. Like caramelized apples. Then some ripe plums and raisins mixed with some marzipan and vanilla comes forward. Oak and a bit darker fruits appears in the taste. Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Scapa Skiren, 40 %. The new (2015) addition to the Scapa range. It is matured in first fill American white oak casks. These have been distilled in their Lomond still, which is one of the only working Lomond still left in Scotland, regarding Whisky distillation (Bruichladdich have one as well, where they distil their Botanist Gin). First on my nose. Is citrus, followed by vanilla and malted barley/new make notes. Lot of citrus again in the taste. Belgium - Radermacher (1).
