Wolf's Ubuntu corner: October 2009
http://wolfs-ubuntu.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Collecting and sharing information about Ubuntu. Tuesday, 27 October 2009. Ubuntu 9.10 client installation. This refers to Ubuntu 9.10 rc1. I installed 9.10rc1 on a HP510 (2GHz, 1GB, 1280x800 i945), HPnx8220 (2GHz, 1GB, 1650x1080 ati), HP 8510w (2,4GHz, 2GB, 1920x1200 nvidia). Installation of the core system went fine. Compiz works on all machines, the Intel chipset being the easiest, NVidia requires proprietary drivers. Switched from Thunderbird to Evolution. Still does not work correctly. It's a shame ...

Wolf's Ubuntu corner: November 2009

Collecting and sharing information about Ubuntu. Sunday, 22 November 2009. VMware Workstation 7.0 works. Dedicated followers of this blog will remember my complaints about VMware never being able to provide a working installation. After upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 I had to reinstall VMware. 6.5.2 did not work, 6.5.3 required a trick to circumvent the hangup in the installation procedure. I read release notes, nothing special: Windows 7 gaming support at the most. Who needs that? Posted by Wolf Rogner. This ...

Wolf's Ubuntu corner: New layout
http://wolfs-ubuntu.blogspot.com/2010/10/new-layout.html
Collecting and sharing information about Ubuntu. Friday, 1 October 2010. How do you like our new layout? After setting up so many blogs for friends and family, I decided to give it a try for myself. I have neglected this blog for a while. Why? First, Ubuntu has grown up. It's a stable and solid platform. I still think that OpenOffice should get some attention (which I sincerely hope it does with LibreOffice. Third, I am slightly disappointed with Canonical and the way things develop. With Office 2010 and...

Dateien in Bildern verstecken mit steghide. Posted on August 1st, 2014 in Konsole. Sudo aptitude install steghide. Hi, danke für diesen tollen Hinweis. Länger...

Collecting and sharing information about Ubuntu. Friday, 4 December 2009. Install HTC Sync on Windows. OK, this is not a Ubuntu issue but I thought it was worth sharing as it touches on Android usage. If you have trouble installing HTC Sync. On a Windows machine (specifically non English system language), here is a fix:. C: Program Files HTC Sync Drivers. If this path is not available (as was on mine C: Programme HTC Sync Drivers) you can temporarily create a folder. C: Program Files HTC Sync Drivers.

Wolf's Ubuntu corner: July 2009
http://wolfs-ubuntu.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Collecting and sharing information about Ubuntu. Thursday, 16 July 2009. MSI X320 graphics driver update. After upgrading to kernel 2.6.28-14 the graphics driver could not be found. I got an error message that the system does not find the corresponding module and can run only in low res mode. Reinstall or uninstall and install of the poulsbo drivers does not fix the problem. To fix this, simply install psb-kernel-sources and reboot. Sudo apt-get install psb-kernel-source. Sudo shutdown -r now.

Collecting and sharing information about Ubuntu. Friday, 29 November 2013. This site is not maintained any more. I have long since published an entry on this blog. Ubuntu has become a rock solid OS. I run it on Apple hardware and usually works out of the box. There is no need for How-to's any longer. So I have moved on. If you are interested in what I currently do, please visit my web page. I provide material and insight into open source and Ubuntu in particular. Thank you for your interest.

Collecting and sharing information about Ubuntu. Sunday, 17 October 2010. As you might have read, Oracle is committed. As a long term follower of Oracles policy, especially its adoption of open standards, I'm pretty convinced that they will push forward OpenOffice development. First thing, Oracle made an announcement. This is definitely a good way to show commitment and support. If OpenOffice is under the tight grip of the coroners of innovation, is there any hope for an open and free office suite? Ubunt...
