Ravenstonedale Folk Dance Club. Meets each Thursday evening at 7.45 in the Public Room above the school, from September to June. It is very informal, dancing to tapes and several people take turns to call. We dance a variety of American and English dances. Favorites include Cumberland Square Eight, Meeting Six, Devil's Dream, Postie's Jig, Levi Jackson's Rag, Virginia Reel, Pins and Needles, Nottingham Swing and several Playfords. There is a tennis court in the village for use by residents and visitors alike. The surface is tarmac. It was completely renovated in August 2005. Membership is open to all. Regular sightings vary from jackdaws chasing buzzards from their nests to garden birds feeding avidly on feeding stations maintained by parishioners.
