Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Free Chart. The Earth Laughs in Flowers. In honor of Earth Day, I've created a little free cross stitch chart for you, with a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "The earth laughs in flowers". The chart calls for DMC, but please substitute your favorite threads if you so desire, choose your favorite count of linen to work it onto, finish it as a pin cushion or needle book, whatever your heart desires. and be sure to send me a photo when you’re done! My Heartstring: Chai Fireball Whiskey Tea
http://thetwistfamily.blogspot.com/2012/11/chai-fireball-whiskey-tea.html
Friday, November 02, 2012. Chai Fireball Whiskey Tea. A few days ago I came across a yummy looking recipe. On Pinterest. I had none of the specific ingredients on hand, but figured it, like all other recipes I encounter, was more a rule of thumb that could be tweaked, than a law that had to be followed to the letter. Yesterday, on a no-school day, as I sat in a cold house waiting for our chimney guy to fix a leak, I knew it was time to give it a try. Pour in the steeped tea. Keepers of my Heart. Will you...

Monday, July 13, 2015. Vignettes from an Antique Show. One of my favorite places to be is out looking at a thousand or so booths full of old things. So much history. So much potential to add to an item's personal story. And now, thanks to my smart phone (Moto X), I can capture little bits of the experience to share with you. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Keepers of my Heart. Show and Tell Time! Will you please share photos of your finishes with me? Hoffman Distributing Company, Inc. Under a Red Roof.

My Heartstring: *NEW* Instead of Sheep
http://thetwistfamily.blogspot.com/2015/04/new-instead-of-sheep.html
Wednesday, April 22, 2015. NEW* Instead of Sheep. I’ve never been good at sleeping. As far back as my memory goes, I have been wakened easily, and have had bouts of sleeplessness bordering on insomnia. Thankfully, I am able to get the rest I need most nights, and I’m fully aware that many out there have it much worse than me. Stitch Count: 130 x 121. Model stitched with one thread over two on Picture This Plus 28ct. Wren. The frame was found at a thrift store, then refinished by me. And will be going out...

Valley House Primitives: Remembering Lisa
http://valleyhouseprimitives.blogspot.com/2011/03/remembering-lisa.html
Thursday, March 3, 2011. So many touching and heartfelt sentiments have been written over the past few days about the untimely passing of Lisa Roswell of The Primitive Needle. We cannot really add to these words so well expressed by others but to say that we are honored to have had the opportunity to frame some of her wonderful designs and blessed beyond measure to have called her our friend. The loss of Lisa has indeed left a void in the needlework industry and an even larger hole in our hearts.

Valley House Primitives: October 2010
http://valleyhouseprimitives.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Photo courtesy of The Garden Gate. A few years ago, Joy posted these little pumpkins on her Garden Gate. Blog So many people asked for the recipe, that we thought we might share it again here. These little pumpkins seem to last forever! While they did need a little dusting of spices this year, they look (and smell) just as good as when they were first made. So make some for yourselves and enjoy their autumn-y goodness! 1 1/2 cups ground cinnamon. 1 cup unsweetened applesauce.

My Heartstring: *NEW* IL 1817 (a Faithfully Reproduced Antique Sampler)
http://thetwistfamily.blogspot.com/2015/02/new-il-1817-faithfully-reproduced.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. NEW* IL 1817 (a Faithfully Reproduced Antique Sampler). I spotted this 200 year old sampler in Kathy Barrick's collection and immediately fell in love. When she offered it for sale, I jumped at the chance to add it to my small but growing collection. It took me two years to get her faded stitches charted, with lots of stops and starts along the way, but that hasn’t stopped me from counting her as a favorite. I hope you find her to be equally enchanting. Stitch Count: 349 x 249.
