gumsandgrass: October 2012

Life in a sustaining environment. Saturday, 27 October 2012. I picked up my old copy of Lorna Doone. From the bookshelf recently, and having been to Exmoor in May this year, and in fact staying at the Lorna Doone Hotel in Porlock for 3 nights, in Gwenny Carfax room no less - and indeed a short square room - I decided to read it. This meant that I have not got as much done in the past week or two, but I have tried to alternate it with bursts of activity. In May 2010, I hurt my knee while bushwalking and h...

gumsandgrass: One Chance
http://gumsandgrass.blogspot.com/2014/08/one-chance.html
Life in a sustaining environment. Sunday, 17 August 2014. A movie night fundraiser for Toowoomba Choral Society. Very few members supported it but, despite not being keen on modern movie theatres, we enjoyed this movie about Welsh tenor Paul Potts on the big screen. There was some lovely vision of Wales and the coastline around Bridgend, and also Venice, and the music was good. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. gumsandgrass: Angelique Duo at Twilight
http://gumsandgrass.blogspot.com/2014/11/angelique-duo-at-twilight.html
Life in a sustaining environment. Wednesday, 5 November 2014. Angelique Duo at Twilight. Angelique Duo at Twilight turned out to be a very good concert at USQ. Nicola Hayden [flute] and Sharon matheson [harp] are locals and they put together a very good programme. A couple of my choir friends said they would have liked more old fashioned music but I enjoyed the choice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Angelique Duo at Twilight. Life in a sustaining environment. Wednesday, 18 June 2014. Tim Clarkson Trio at Twilight. Son of Denise Hart, we looked forward to this visit to USQ Twilight Series from Sydney, Tim having grown up in Toowoomba. The concert, however, did not grab me. Perhaps it was the jazz style. Life in a sustaining environment. Saturday, 13 April 2013. Sounds of Notre Dame. Last night we went to St Luke's for an organ concert with Olivier Latry from Notre Dame Paris and the Camerata of St John's chamber orchestra from Brisbane. There was a good audience and it was a very good concert. Sunday, 7 April 2013. So the mass went off quite well for me and the audience seemed to think it went well. Friday, 5 April 2013. A play at Rep theatre, set in Sydney by Nick Enright. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Life in a sustaining environment. Sunday, 30 September 2012. Margaret, the eldest child Keith and Thelma, expressed a desire for all their descendants to meet and have some knowledge of each other. We were pleased to be invited and that Robin was also coming from Victoria, so that three branches were represented. In all, there were 55 expected and the party was held at Jan and Lester Smith's home, with plenty of room for small children, regardless of weather. Saturday, 29 September 2012. While we were aw...
