Down the memory lane. Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Finger wave tutorial à la 1920s and 30s. My friend and frequent guest star of this blog, Jirina, does some of the very best finger waves that I've ever seen. I asked her to do a guest post on this 1920s and 1930s stable 'do because I haven't really seen any truly great tutorials on finger waving online. Instead of a simple blog post, we ended up filming a tutorial for your viewing pleasure! Well, watch the video and you'll see what I mean. Thank you, Katy!

Harlean's Heyday: Historic Hollywood Restaurants
http://harleansheyday.blogspot.com/2013/10/historic-hollywood-restaurants.html
Down the memory lane. Sunday, October 6, 2013. I love food and I love history - and Hollywood history, first and foremost! Naturally, one of my very favourite things to do in Los Angeles is to visit its unique historic restaurants, all of which with strong ties to the film industry, and many that still look the same as they did back when my favourite stars used to wine and dine under their dim lights. Without further ados, here are my favourite historic Hollywood restaurants. Musso and Frank Grill. This ...

Like a Tree in the Desert. Tuesday, December 16, 2014. The Empress of China and Charles Phoenix in San Francisco! What a night this was! Not only were we seeing the Charles Phoenix. Retro Holiday Slide Show, we finally got to experience the Empress of China. Before it closes its doors at the end of the year. Now that we saw it in all its glory, I am even more sad than I was before about it closing. I agree with Charles Phoenix when he said it is the ‘best Chinese restaurant in the world! This is probably...

Jerry Lee's: machines
http://hoosier-built.blogspot.com/p/machines.html
This is my most recent machine, an 1890's Cornely K cording machine. This machine produces chainstitch, moss stitch and cording. 1960's Singer 114w103 chainstitch embroidery machine. This is my favorite machine. Some chainstitch enthusiasts swear by the French made Cornely machines but I think the American made Singer machines are every bit as good. I use this machine for most of my chainstitch embroidery work. I also have a 1930's Singer 114w103 and a rare 1913 Singer 114w100. January 17, 2013 at 8:49 PM.
