Tuesday, 13 October 2009. Wednesday, 29 October 2008. UV Co-ordinates part 2. Ideally we would like to fit the ear into the gap for the ear in the face map. However just using a 3D painting tool we could easily place the ear somewhere else. Lets just clean up the results a little bit. What you want to avoid in your UV layout is avoid ambiguous quads. Thursday, 23 October 2008. Tutorial 9 - UV Coordinates. This process is quite lengthy and will be handled in two parts. We are going to use cylindrical proj...

Virtual Environments 2008: Tutorial 5 - Using symmetry and sub-division

Tuesday, 2 September 2008. Tutorial 5 - Using symmetry and sub-division. 5 - Symmetry and Sub-division. This tutorial describes how you can use Symmetry, so that you can make changes to one side of the model, and it affects both sides; also how to subdivide your mesh in order to smooth it off. There are several ways to mirror your model. Copy – a unique object. Instance – provides information between the clone and the original. Select the object right click clone reference. Wednesday, 22 October 2008. Tutorial 7 - Primitive extension for the back of the head. Assign this map to the reference plates. If you had trouble finding the reference plates go over to display hide frozen objects uncheck. Need to line these up, vertex mode turn on snap, we want to configure our snap option as vertex, and now we go to move tool and click and drag to various points. Line up the closest ones first. Turn on soft selection, so that there are no shape edges. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Virtual Environments: wk 10: Did you know that lights have bones?

http://paulsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2008/11/wk-10-did-you-know-that-lights-have.html

Tuesday, 25 November 2008. Wk 10: Did you know that lights have bones? Captains log, Star date 569709: Well yes they do. mine do anyway! 4 The problems started when I linked the cable to the lighting case because when I moved the light case the cable followed the centre of the case and not the point that it enters into the case. As you can see below it messes itself up by turning inside out! Now I have done one light I can copy it for the other lights and start to animate them all over again! PS Just for...

http://paulsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2008/12/wk-12-last-legs.html

Thursday, 11 December 2008. Wk 12: The last legs. Captains log, Star date 569716: Me, Matt and Amy presented our work so far on Tuesday, it was just a shame that we did not have all of our rooms rendered. We explained our storyboard and the concept of our advert which is simple and hopefully understand-abubble! Below is a shot of my beloved characters! Some are grooving some are jumping around whilst others are head banging or waving their arms. I went for the cheesy operator effect which is why I'm not ...

Virtual Environments: Testing Movement

http://virtualenvironmentslisa.blogspot.com/2008/12/testing-movement.html

Saturday, 6 December 2008. This is one of the silhouettes created and has been put into the final scene, however I thought I would take this video to show it's movement as it is not that clear/visible in the final product. The silhouette is 'controlling' the toy train, and watching it move at the same time. If you look closely, you will be able to see the arms and head move. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Virtual Environments: Evaluation

http://virtualenvironmentslisa.blogspot.com/2008/12/evaluation.html

Thursday, 11 December 2008. So, we have now finally finished the project and have put everything together using Premier Pro. This project has been quite interesting and fun to do, although stressful at the same time! I enjoyed making the toy train move along with the light shining, I felt this was quite enjoyable to watch so should be no problem to entertain children with this advert! As well as using the Biped (again this could be improved on had I figured out how to fix the envelopes problem). Subscrib...

Virtual Environments: Premier Pro

http://virtualenvironmentslisa.blogspot.com/2008/12/premier-pro.html

Thursday, 11 December 2008. After all the members of the group had completed their scenes, it was time for all the scenes to be joined up together with music included. Luke, Rich and myself managed to edit the videos in Premier Pro. Techniques used were cutting parts of videos and fading music to match the scenes appropriately (animation movements in time with the music beats etc). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thursday, 11 December 2008. Wk 12: Another short tutorial. Captains log, Star date 569719: Just incase no-one knows what I did to create my walking 'geezer' I'll give another demo on how I did it. First I created a biped (I didn't bother altering the parameters for this demo):. Then I activated footsteps and clicke 'multiple footsteps'. After a little faffing I found that 25 steps was best for mine. Well wasn't that simple-with-no-actual-need-for-this-demo! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wk 11: anim...

http://paulsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2008/12/wk-11-army-of-ordinary-people.html

Monday, 1 December 2008. Wk 11: An army of ordinary people! Captains log, Star date 569711: After a day of hard-slave labour me and Matt finished hair-cutting and dressing the characters. Would you like to meet them? Let me introduce Barry, Dave, Emmanuel, Gary, Moses, Fiona, Gabby, Jessica and Kate! Below are shots of them and How I boned them. More importantly I made a short video to break up the monotonous hours of modelling! Good old Microstar, Powerpod thingies! Or was it Subbuteo? Wk 12: To conclude.

Virtual Environments: Final Group Video

http://virtualenvironmentslisa.blogspot.com/2008/12/final-group-video.html

Thursday, 11 December 2008. The final group video is shown above. Some changes have been made to each of the scenes:. As we all created our silhouette's differently, some of us were unable to put a question mark material onto the body, so we came to the conclusion that it was best to take the question marks off of Rich's scenes so that it would flow with the rest of the scenes and be consistent throughout instead. Rich also changed the speed of his camera so that it went slightly faster.

http://paulsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2008/12/wk-12the-actual-conclusion.html

Friday, 12 December 2008. Wk 12:The actual conclusion. Captains log, Star date 569721: Well it has been an emotional journey, and as usual there were more than our fair share of problems but we won through in the end. Of characters.well nearly billions. Although the workload was huge I am pleased with both mine and the rest of our groups progress and level of competence and even though we were riddled with illnesses and colds we got there in the end. Sunday, 23 November 2008. Wk 9: Nay. not more problems! Captains log, Star date 569708: Oh yes more problems! Problem 6.= For some reason the beams of light seem to have all moved up a bit so they are pointing through the objects instead of the holes and yet I never ungrouped them meaning that I couldn't move them without moving the whole light! Unfortunately ungrouping the lights means no animation! Solution.= Ungroup move the lights and start all over again with the animation process! Problem 8.= I...

Virtual Environments: Is one life enough? Just another WordPress.com weblog. IOLE 15 Class Presentations. April 12, 2015. We need to schedule class presentations. Since there are so many groups, we are planning to spread the presentations across three meetings: 23 April, 30 April, and 7 May. It would be better to have them completed as early as possible so we may have time for debriefing, so we prefer to have the presentations on one of the two first dates if at all possible. Generally talking, this module is very interesting and it helps to develop 3Ds max skills every year better and better. I feel more confident using the program, I also learnt new modelling techniques and I enjoyed the assessment. Then I was creating a bump map from the colour map. Later I came to Image-Ajustments-Levels, where I could make it lighter or darker.
