SB-230 Mod

Heathkit SB-230 Linear Amplifier. And people thought Krugerrands were a great investment in the 70's.). Unfortunately, the 3CX400A7 is forced air cooled, which requires mechanical modification to the SB-230 for operation. The street price of the 3CX400A7 ranges from $400.00 to $335.00, more within budgetary constraints and potential for extending the life-cycle of the SB-230. SB-230 Top View, RF cage upper right. The Shack

Less office desk and computers on opposite walls. Here's the shack. On the right is my operating table and equipment consisting of a Drake TR7. Antenna tuner and below that is my Ameritron ALS-600. Linear. The ALS-600 power supply along with a 12vdc power supply for my VHF equipment sits below that. On the bottom shelf is a power distribution unit that I modified for 240 volts and the drake PS-7 power supply sits behind it. The picture below provides a better view of the equipment rack.
