Oompa Loompa | whiskitforabiscuit

It's worth the whisk…. A deliciously Wonkarific Willy Wonka party! Soit’s been a while. I apologise for the lack of posting so far this year, it has been a busy one. Anyway, last week was my sister’s birthday party, and there is always a fun theme for her parties. You may remember the Wonderful Wizard of Oz party. From two years ago. Being the lover of all things sweet, I was obviously very excited about this year’s theme! The bottom tier was a 6 layer rainbow cake – similar to this one. Other bits and p...

It's worth the whisk…. Newer posts →. Halloween Spooky Spider Chocolate Oreos. Can you believe it’s Halloween already? I’m a little bit excited about this, as it means it’s getting nice and close to the best time of year – Christmas! Halloween is not really a huge deal in Australia, although it seems to have become more popular in recent years. This is only the second post I’ve ever done on Halloween. Just as well I could turn them into spiders, and that it’s coincidentally the week of Halloween! There i...

Macarons | whiskitforabiscuit

http://whiskitforabiscuit.com/category/macarons-2

It's worth the whisk…. Macarons have been few and far between as of late. As much as I love making them, and more importantly, eating them, they can be very finicky and temperamental, especially in the heat and humidity of the summer. However, I thought, before I go back into Uni hibernation, I should probably make some, even just to know that I am still capable (and this I am now unsure of! Recipe by Adriano Zumbo. You will definitely need kitchen scales to make macarons. 2-3 cups icing sugar mixture.

Redskin Macarons | whiskitforabiscuit

http://whiskitforabiscuit.com/2013/08/08/redskin-macarons

It's worth the whisk…. A Wonderful Wizard of Oz Party! London: High Tea heaven and Market madness! This is now the second time I have made these, and round two definitely didn’t disappoint. I LOVED redskins when I was little, and when I saw this flavour popping up around local markets and food blogs, I just had to give them a go. They are ahhhhh-mazing! A winner with the crowds, too🙂. Chocolatey, creamy, raspberry gooey deliciousness😉. This recipe is Adriano Zumbo’s. 1/4 tsp colouring gel, purple.

Sugabuttacream: Salted Caramel Saint-Honoré Cake

http://sugabuttacream.blogspot.com/2014/04/salted-caramel-saint-honore-cake.html

Friday, April 25, 2014. Salted Caramel Saint-Honoré Cake. The name is fancy and well so is this dessert, but its pretty simple to make each component and then all you have to do is assemble. I spied a photo of this dessert on Pinterest and although that one was a little more polished, I think mine still look pretty good. Salted Caramel Saint-Honoré Cake. What you will need. 2 sheets of puff pastry. For the Choux Pastry. For the Salted Caramel Mousseline. 2 cups whole milk. 1/3 cup plus 1/4 cup sugar.

Saturday, July 13, 2013. Chocolate Brownies - My New Favourite! In the past I had always tried to use brownie recipes that use cocoa powder instead of chocolate for convenience reasons but this time I went for the real thing. These brownies are amazing! They are exactly that texture I have been searching for and the nuts just really add to the experience. Topped with chocolate ganache they are to die for and extremely morish. Another great thing is you make it in one saucepan so its not too messy! I don'...

Sugabuttacream: December 2013

http://sugabuttacream.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 22, 2013. Pecan Pies and Christmas Treats. So sadly Christmas blogging has been put to the back of my mind until now. I have made a few tasty christmas treats and boxed them up for some little christmas gifts. I made chocolate balls, rum balls, marshmallow, coconut ice and the crowning glory Pecan Pies. I used recipes from Taste.com for the marshmallow. And just kind of made up the recipe for chocolate and rum balls (sorry will post them if I have time). Adapted from Taste.com. Preheat o...

Sugabuttacream: Sponge Cake with Fresh Cream and Strawberries

http://sugabuttacream.blogspot.com/2014/08/sponge-cake-with-fresh-cream-and.html

Friday, August 29, 2014. Sponge Cake with Fresh Cream and Strawberries. It has been too long. I would like to say that it is because I have been super busy, but that would not be 100% true. I have been a bit busy, but mostly I have been lazy and avoiding baking. Throw in a holiday to Queenstown (yay! And a dysfunctional kitchen (or lack there of) and that is all the reasons why this is the first post in several months. So yeah. Here is a new one! Sponge Cake with Fresh Cream and Strawberries. Sugabuttacream: Caramel Macadamia Slice

http://sugabuttacream.blogspot.com/2014/03/caramel-macadamia-slice.html

Wednesday, March 5, 2014. I made it for my dad to take to a farewell party at his work and it was a big hit. I adore caramel and matched with a bit of chocolate and some crunchy macadamias it is such perfection. The original slice called for a layer of chocolate on top but I substituted for choc chips and I think it really worked. And there is not much else to say except this is delicious, you should try it! Adapted from food.ninemsn. What you will need. 1/3 cup self-raising flour. 1/3 cup plain flour.

This cake is so decadent which makes it perfect for sharing ;). If you are like me however and have a partner that doesn't 'believe' in Valentines day, you can make this cake and eat it all yourself! Monday, April 22, 2013. OhMyGosh. Pinterest, where have you been all my life? I have heard people talking about 'pinning' for a while now but never really thought much of it. This week that all changed. I finally took a good look at the social pin board site and fell in love. Top 5 reasons why I love Pinterest:. I now have a list about a mile long of things I can make and do myself from lanterns and storage to gift ideas and activities. Cute, funny and inspirational, need I say more? Links to this post.

Sugabuttacream: May 2013

http://sugabuttacream.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Choc-Peppermint Cake and Cupcakes. Peppermint isn't exactly my favourite flavour but with chocolate it's not so bad. Chocolate makes everything better really! I made this cake for a work friends birthday and wasn't around for the cutting of it hence no inside photos :(. I used XXX Mints to flavour the icing and I put choc bits in it to give it a kind of choc-chip look, so I promise that's what the black bits are, not cake crumbs. Recipe adapted from About.com. What you will need.

Monday, January 20, 2014. Honey and Oat Bread … I'm Back! Firstly a few apologies… sorry it has been so long since I posted (moving and job hunting is NO excuse I know) and sorry for the lack of quality photos with this post, I knew the bread wouldn't last long and so I had to just take a few quick ones without a good set up. Now that's out of the way, I hope everyone had a wonderful new year! Honey and Oat Bread. What you will need. 1 packet active dry yeast. 2½ cups wholemeal flour. 2 cups white flour.

Whisk It All | Just a girl baking her stress away

Just a girl baking her stress away. Strawberry Lemonade Cheesecake Bars. Summertime is here at last, just in time for Memorial Day Weekend! The past few days in Chicago have been absolutely gorgeous. I rented a Divvy Bike. On Saturday and biked to Lake Shore to enjoy the sun and waves. Even though back in California I lived a good 30-40 minute drive from the ocean, the beach still reminded me of home. It was probably a bit of a combination between the beach and the weather, to be honest. 1 hour 5 mins.

Whisk It Together — From the mind of Rona Moser

From the mind of Rona Moser. June 23, 2014. I used to be obsessed with yeast. The thing was that my mom, the amazing and talented cook she is, never dared doing anything with it.
