http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2012/02/is-sugar-fattening.html

Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Buckle your seat belts, ladies and gentlemen- we're going on a long ride through the scientific literature on sugar and body fatness. Some of the evidence will be surprising and challenging for many of you, as it was for me, but ultimately it paints a coherent and actionable picture. Introduction: What Exactly are Sugar and Starch? Primate and Human Evolutionary History with Sugar. 2009) Chimpanzees and bonobos, our closest living primate relatives ( 6 million years of diver...

Whole Health Source: Drug Cessation and Weight Gain

http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2011/06/drug-cessation-and-weight-gain.html

Thursday, June 23, 2011. Drug Cessation and Weight Gain. Commenter "mem", who has been practicing healthcare for 30 years, made an interesting remark that I think is relevant to this discussion:. Recovering substance dependent people often put on lots of weight and it is not uncommon for them to become obese or morbidly obese. They had no change in resting metabolic rate. That's not consistent with the idea that changes in fat burning were the primary driver of fat gain, but it may be consistent with...

Monday, December 14, 2009. The Dirty Little Secret of the Diet-Heart Hypothesis. The diet-heart hypothesis is the idea that saturated fat, and in some versions cholesterol, raises blood cholesterol and contributes to the risk of having a heart attack. To test this hypothesis, scientists have been studying the relationship between saturated fat consumption and heart attack risk for more than half a century. What have these studies found? A Sampling of Unsupportive Studies. Diet and Heart: a Postscript.

Whole Health Source: Food Reward Friday

http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2015/05/food-reward-friday.html

Friday, May 15, 2015. This week's lucky "winner". Hardee's Most American Thickburger! All I can say is. wow. This monster, just unveiled by Hardee's and Carl's Jr., is a regular cheeseburger plus a smoked hot dog and potato chips. It weighs in at a whopping 1,030 Calories, not including fries, soda, etc. This is consistent with the company's recent policy of not just ignoring health concerns, but mocking them. Nothing can sum this up better than the words of Hardee's CEO himself, Andrew Pudzer:. The Beef...

Whole Health Source: Brown Fat: It's a Big Deal

http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2013/07/brown-fat-its-big-deal.html

Sunday, July 28, 2013. Brown Fat: It's a Big Deal. Is the process by which the body generates extra heat without shivering. Shivering is a way for the body to use muscular contractions to generate heat, but non-shivering thermogenesis uses a completely different mechanism to accomplish the same goal: a specialized fat-burning tissue called brown fat. Two new studies concurrently published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. The protocol involved exposing people to 60 F (15-16 C) air for two hours o...

The Vegan Party: Pizza Pizza...Oh and Ranch!

http://www.theveganparty.com/2013/03/pizza-pizzaoh-and-ranch.html

Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Pizza Pizza.Oh and Ranch! So today I called in on my day off, which not only makes me look like the biggest dumbass ever, but is also quite awkward. Oh well, life's too short to get embarrassed, right? Besides, it was the pizza's fault. I decided to get crafty pretty late last night because pizza is one of those foods that are super versatile and also really easy. Plus I had Daiya Mozzarella leftover from when I made that pasta bake. This manly-ass pizza was Sam's. Put everything ...

He is measuring 33 weeks 5 days and is weighing in at 4 lbs 7 ounces(a month ago he was 3lbs 5 ounces). This all seems very average but he dropped on his weight curve from 40% to 26%.
