Summary of Bear Experiences. Day 1 - Wednesday. We departed from Birmingham with Klm just after 6am and arrived in Amsterdam around 8.30am and left Amsterdam again at 11.00am. The flight had a good entertainment system and the eight odd hours went nice and quick with us arriving at Kilimanjaro Airport around 8.30pm. We had planned to change our sterling for shillings at the airport but Alan refused to accept the poor exchange rate at 1900 shillings to the pound (the bank exchange rate was around 2400).
