TiGi's Windfalls for Writers: May 2013
http://tigiswindfallsforwriters.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
TiGi's Windfalls for Writers. Save yourself. Write anyway! Monday, May 27, 2013. I’ve read the advice, on both writing and caregiving. Advice on the two is often contradicting, impossible, guilt producing. The truth is it lulls me slowing into a funk. It is impossible. I can’t do it. I’m not stupid. I’m a realist, but I am also—a dreamer. With all that, this caregiving challenge has been the most devastating to my writing. I write to save myself. I write to be myself and find myself. It was what ...Somet...

TiGi's Windfalls for Writers: Crochet/Cross-stitching a Story

TiGi's Windfalls for Writers. Save yourself. Write anyway! Monday, January 6, 2014. What a wonderful thing that all these years later I still have tea towels and dresser scarves embroidered by childhood friends (some of which I haven’t seen since) as I began married life. I still have stacks of tea towels and pillowcases, so I never truly forget these wonderful friends. And it got us to learn handwork and figure out that hand-made things are the best gifts. Labels: Fostering the Writer Within. I started ...

TiGi's Windfalls for Writers: June 2013

TiGi's Windfalls for Writers. Save yourself. Write anyway! Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Getting back into the swing of things since returning from vacation has been difficult. The pile on my desk discouraging, most of all. The thought of tackling all the bits and pieces I brought back littering my desk is as bad as the flowerbeds needing attention. But if I’m to treat my writing seriously, I have to treat it like any other job and get to it. I’m actually excited to get back to work on my book though, ...

Horreur Vacui: March 2007
http://horreurvacui.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 28, 2007. It has been quite a while. This post is just me holding my nose and diving in again. Last week was particularly awful, but not anything I would want to write about in a blog. Anyway, I am back. I think. To offset my malaise, I watched a lot of Animal Planet- tried to avoid raging about issues on C-SPAN- and read my eyes out. So often I think after a romantic comedy "Would those two have REALLY gone for each other in real life? And more often than not, "No! Too often, actually, e...

Horreur Vacui: Happy Ending, Unhappy Ending or No Ending
http://horreurvacui.blogspot.com/2007/04/happy-ending-unhappy-ending-or-no.html
Monday, April 23, 2007. Happy Ending, Unhappy Ending or No Ending. On my walk this morning (ahem! Take the novel Yellowcake. And 'did Ryland manage to hang on a few more years, spending them contentedly with Rosy? Her comment was so obviously serendipidous that I added it to my ruminating pot and let it stew a bit. So, what about happy endings and unhappy ones? I can only hope that she writes a sequel. Doesn't leave me wondering. Zero seems pretty harsh! Jen: Hee hee. You know me- pretty harsh! I'm just ...

Horreur Vacui: Ready~~ Set~~~GO!
http://horreurvacui.blogspot.com/2007/04/ready-setgo.html
Friday, April 20, 2007. Have to go to work in about 10 minutes, so taking those few for a post. Not a lofty post, just ramblings and meanderings about TA DA! ION, I have been having ear worms of both the song Sanjaya sang, "Let's Give Them Something to Talk About" (which he personalized with "besides hair") and "Broken Wing," sang by Jordin Sparks. But, with a difference- Jordin's rendition gave me goosebumps. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sometimes things are happening. Are we there yet?

Horreur Vacui: August 2006
http://horreurvacui.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 09, 2006. Old Wine Shades by Martha Grimes. After reading aforesaid book, I loaned it to a neighbor who handed it back soon after, practically spitting: "I hated it! I wonder if it was Mungo's antics with the kittens that put my neighbor off? Just watched Drunken Master. From the sublime to the ridiculous? What a talented ham! And, what's not to like? Tuesday, August 01, 2006. I recall someone criticizing Keaton's acting as not "really being acting," when she won her Oscar. Hah!

Horreur Vacui: February 2007

Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Cary Grant a celebration of Style. After reading this book I doubt you will ever view Cary Grant the same way again. It is like having a magician explain his tricks: afterward, you watch closely, to see how he does it. Afterward, either some of the magic is gone or you marvel even more at how he pulls off the prestidigitation. Was my response to reading about the many infinitessimal means Grant used to create his image. The bold outline of his career is probably familiar to ne...
