Welcome to Target Shooting. There are many types of firearm which you can use at WRPC, with only a few exceptions all can be used by probationary club members. Full year membership starts on the 1st October and new, non-FAC, members joining part way through the year will pay a pro-rata fee. Current FAC holders joining part way through the year will pay the full annual fee but will pay a pro-rata fee in the second year. Initial fee is £10 which includes admin and safety briefing. We have a 10 metre air weapons range with motorised target system, plus an additional two 25 metre ranges, one being a dedicated smallbore range, the other catering for all other firearm disciplines up to .454 calibre. Both air weapons and small bore ranges offer full disabled access. We also offer a club armoury, club waiting room, toilets and microwave plus we are part of the College Grove Sports Facility which offers a full service bar, though that’s for AFTER finishing shooting! How does membership work? On joining the club you have to pass a probation period before the club will grant full membership status, which is required in order to apply for a firearms certificate. During this time you will be taught safety, technique and shooting skills and will have ample opportunity to try lots of different weapons out. Here’s the typical course of events:-. So you’re interested in taking up shooting? For safety the minimum age for joining the club is 10 years old. We do have quite a few families where mums, dads and grandparents all shoot together with their children. It can get quite competetive! Parents or guardians are very welcome to accompany junior members on the range whilst they shoot, there is no need for the parent to become a member themselves.
