THE END: Creede Colorado
http://annablestrekntheusa.blogspot.com/2012/07/creede-colorado.html
Almont, CO Weather from Weather Underground. Wednesday, July 4, 2012. It's 4th of July and we actually have it off. Fireworks were cancelled in Crested Butte because of the Fire Ban. The only place on the Western Slopes for fireworks is Gunnison, we figure it will be crazy there so we drive down to Creede. We drive through Lake City where they are preparing for their 4th of July Parade - we just make it through before it starts. We continue on the Silver Thread Scenic Byway. We picnic alongside the river.

Almont, CO Weather from Weather Underground. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Lake City and the Alpine Loop. Today we tackle the Alpine Loop which runs out of Lake City - it is a 65 mile scenic 4 wheel drive Loop that connects Lake City, Silverton and Ouray. I have posted quite a few pictures. Hope you enjoy them! We take the scenic route out of Blue Mesa. Here's the start - hopefully our Jeep wanabee is up to the task. Which way do we go? A short detour to the Sherman townsite. Meanders through tall pines.

Almont, CO Weather from Weather Underground. Monday, September 26, 2011. The Buffalo Round Up. The Buffalo Round Up weekend is finally here. We have moved into the Employee campground in the Park hoping there will be less of a chance of being sucked back into work on Monday. Also we won't have to get up at 4 am to make the trip into the Park. The neighbors are pretty quiet. We even get to enjoy a campfire aka old file burning party! This time I bring carrots and apples. They are a big hit. We arrive at t...

We drive back through Blue Mesa Reservoir and pas the Dillon Pinnacles which we will hike up to sometime. I'm sure the view from up there is spectacular. As the view from down here is pretty good. We will borrow the Stand Up paddle boards some day and camp down here as well. We get to the Curecanti Dam. We connec...

Almont, CO Weather from Weather Underground. Friday, July 29, 2011. 4 Mile Old West Town. Four Mile got it's name from the Stage Coach drivers. It was 4 miles from Custer where the mail was picked up. It was on our VIP pass so we headed down there after work to check it out. There are a lot of old buildings. There is an audio tour of the property. The audio tour was actually on an old Cassette Player with the push buttons. It was very informative. Really - I didn't do it! Gary got caught up in the show!

Almont, CO Weather from Weather Underground. Sunday, April 24, 2011. Custer, South Dakota. We arrived safe and sound in Custer, SD late Thursday afternoon. The weather is a little chillier than we had hoped for. We woke up to snow the next day. Day 1 we did the wildlife loop in Custer State Park and Wind Cave and couldn't believe how many Buffalo we saw! Today they were on the side of the road - we hear that some days they hang out in the road blocking traffic. And they've started to have babies. Easter ...

Almont, CO Weather from Weather Underground. Saturday, March 31, 2012. Truth or Consequences New Mexico. The sun sets on our time at Riverbend Hotsprings. It has been a positive experience overall and we enjoyed the people we worked with and those that passed through visiting the Hot Springs. If you look closely at the Mountain behind the tee pee you can see how it got the name Turtleback. One visitor we had for a while was a Swan but he seems to have moved on now that the River is flowing again. Only a ...

Almont, CO Weather from Weather Underground. Friday, August 26, 2011. Finding Nemo, Sturgis and Bear Butte. Decided to drive up to Sturgis now that the 300,000 plus bikers are gone. Planned on taking the scenic route through Nemo - but missed our turn and ended up going an extra 20 miles or so, but we finally got back on track. Hit Sturgis and did the Motorcycle Museum. Lot's of cool and really old bikes. All on loan. They had a ton of Indians. The Chip looms in the Distance. The higher up we got the br...

Almont, CO Weather from Weather Underground. Monday, February 27, 2012. Joshua Tree National Park. We stop at Joshua Tree National Park on our way out of Palm Springs. We camp at BLM Land just outside the Park entrance. The landscape is filled with amazing rock formations. And of course the Joshua Trees - which are really tree sized Yucca plants. They can reach up to 40 feet tall. Or maybe the Grinch? I took this video of a guy crossing over. You got to have guts! A view of the Salton Sea in the distance...
