Walking, camping, taking it easy. TGOC2016 – A quick reflection. June 19, 2016. I usually write up a quick summary of my TGO Challenge experience soon after the event. Time has flown since I arrived home but I think I can rummage up a few fading memories to give an overall impression of … Continue reading →. TGOC16 – Day 13 – The End – Ethie Haven. May 26, 2016. Walking, camping, taking it easy. Newer posts →. TGOC16 – Day 6 – Loch Ericht to Loch Errochty. May 20, 2016. A Foul Weather Alternative would have been justified today. Very low cloud and rain accompanied with cold wind. I stuck to my main route though, mainly following a blind compass bearing (with an occasional crafty look at my GPS, which is working again). Btw, don’t be fooled by the blue sky. That lasted for 2 minutes before it clouded over and rained again! May 20, 2016. May 16, 2016. May 16, 2016.

Walking, camping, taking it easy. Minera Mountain bivi camp – and sore feet. TGOC2015 Days 3 & 4 →. TGOC2015 – Days 1 & 2. May 10, 2015. The 9 mile walk from Kyle of Lochalsh to Dornie warmed the legs up nicely and reminded me of the aches and pains to come. The pack felt heavy but I haven’t yet had the backpain I was worried about. The path S to the Falls of Glomach was not as bad as I was led to believe. Wouldn’t fancy it when it’s icy, though. This entry was posted in TGO Challenge. Liked by 1 person.

Walking, camping, taking it easy. TGOC2015 Days 3 & 4. TGOC2015 Days 6, 7 & 8 →. May 12, 2015. Yesterday’s laziness was rewarded with gales and heavy rain all night. The tent coped but it was not the relaxing evening I had planned. Today was physically short but mentally long. Took a wrong turn in the forest; again. Rained until mid afternoon. Met a friendly 7 month old Black Lab and helped with his training. Scared the life out of a young spaniel who was really not sure what I was. TGOC2015 Days 3 & 4.

This is a personal blog mainly to do with hillwalking things but with other stuff as well.maybe the odd rant. Friday, 29 May 2015. Coast to Coast Folks. It's probably with some relief for you that I announce at the start of this thread that it's my final words on the subject of Lucky and Me's Coast to Coast walk. This is about other people; people I came across on the way. Some, most, good, a few dozy, nobody bad, really. First, a word about other walkers. Other CtoC-ers near Littlebeck. Lucky approaches...

This is a personal blog mainly to do with hillwalking things but with other stuff as well.maybe the odd rant. Wednesday, 29 April 2015. That Was A Pretty Short Summer (Spring Snow North Pennines). We drove up past the “No Unauthorised Vehicles Beyond This Point” signs to the car park (! Braving the war dogs, special forces, land mines, man traps, armed drones and rude signs (there were none of these by the way), we huddled down behind the corrugated walls where it was almost warm for a short lunchtime.

It'll be alright in the end, and if it's not alright, it's not the end.". Tuesday, 28 July 2015. Ls Belles, Yet More Trigpointing. On the chosen day, I nipped over to Laura’s and abandoned the car, then hopped into Laura’s van and we drove to chosen hill, The Scalp. We positioned the van very carefully so as to not block a field entrance or cause an obstruction on the road and I managed not to fall in to the ditch. Off we set uphill (why, why is it always uphill? Uphill, but not the top. The Great Outdoo...

This is a personal blog mainly to do with hillwalking things but with other stuff as well.maybe the odd rant. Sunday, 31 August 2014. Cronkley – Scrambles and General Poking Around. This was Matt’s idea – and I discussed it with the Pup and he agreed to come along providing he could have a chew stick and a nip out of the cat when he got home. We crossed the wall and found a comfy spot on a heathery lump sheltered from the wind and spent some considerable time lunching and watching the view. The geology s...

Mountain and Sea Scotland: A seabird spectacle at Fowlsheugh
http://mountainandseascotland.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-seabird-spectacle-at-fowlsheugh.html
Mountain and Sea Scotland. Hillwalking and Sea Kayaking in Scotland. Wednesday, 20 May 2015. A seabird spectacle at Fowlsheugh. A short distance to the south of Stonehaven. The cliffs here are indented by a couple of deep geos which give great views right into the heart of the seabird colonies. The air is a blizzard of wheeling birds at this time of year; dazzling black-and-white against a blue sea. With colourful wildflowers and lichens adding splashes of brilliance to the green of the clifftops. The sh...
Is Anyone Out There?: A gentle stroll.........
http://lllpops.blogspot.com/2014/07/a-gentle-stroll.html
Is Anyone Out There? Thoughts and comments about hiking, skiing and other interests. Not all those that wander are lost. Tuesday, 1 July 2014. The plan to walk up to Pressendye and along the ridge was again abandoned today. This time not because the cloud was too low, the rain too wet or the wind too strong - this time because I reasoned that if I'm going to enjoy the weekend to come without a painful knee, I'd better not push it too much; however good the weather! Pennine Ranger: July 2014
http://pennineranger.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
A blog of outdoors stuff and trips. Tuesday, 15 July 2014. The new look Stanage Causeway. I took an early morning ride. (Some, including me, would say ridiculously early - I was out of the house by just gone 6am.) The reason for this crack of sparrowfart start was to go and have a peek at the work Derbyshire County Council are doing on the steep section of Stanage Long Causeway. DCC have closed it off to public access during the week until the end of August. Start of the latest section to be resurfaced.
