Wednesday, August 20. So often in the bush it is really difficult to get that "perfect" picture of an animal. So much so that one of my more frequent quips is "one would think that the animal is more interested in eating/sleeping/hiding than posing for us tourists! Sunday, September 7. My 100th posting, celebrating 900 days on safari. It's taken me a while to decide how to celebrate my 100th blog posting. First I thought to emulate a blog buddy of mine by publishing a selection from my photos that are numbered #100 (too restrictive and not many good ones). Then I tried selecting every 100th of all the ones I've taken whilst on safari (way too many! 100th day on safari (Spring 2008). It was springtime and the Common Sugar bush was in full flower along the mountains.

Saturday, April 18. When the buffalo chased off the lion pride. It's early on a late-summer morning, and we're taking a quick drive north of Satara before turning south for Skukuza. Some 10 k's from camp we find a huge buffalo herd crossing the road, extending for 100's of meters on both sides. There are many calves gamboling around and we pause to enjoy the show. Tuesday, October 7. Those elusive animals of Kruger National Park. An uncommon sighting, Common Reedbuck in a typical pose. If you want to know what's really hard to find in Kruger National Park you just need to watch out for a guides over-the-top response to an animal (usually of a smaller size) sighting. Friday, September 27. Mana Pools, paradise revisited. After a too long a gap of 21 years, I was fortunate enough to revisit Mana Pools Zimbabwe, earlier this month. The most special part of the reserve for me, is the river and flood plains. I tried really hard to reduce my list of favourite leopard photos down to three or four, but just couldn't get less than eight. Most of the following have been taken in Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, and the last in Karongwe Private Game Reserve.
