Monday, February 25, 2013. Completed Structure Overview (546.75hrs). I guess this needs another update after finishing the LH upper wing skin and starting on the fuel tanks. 10625hrs of the total belong to the wings, 9hrs of which are solely to the fuel tanks, the remaining 440.5hrs is a mixture of tail and fuselage both still have work to be done on them. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Finally time to connect the two halves of the fuselage together! The stand worked great. It rolls around really easily. I posted more pics as promised. Since the work table was now free of airplane I decided to build the baby a set of chest-of-drawers that we needed. Started and finished it this past weekend. It's made almost entirely from the wood crating the airplane was shipped in, pretty neat. 23 35 riveted fuselage halves. 25 175 bending longerons. 26 15 bending longerons.

Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Finishing" the Instrument Panel Wiring. I tried and tried to be really organized with the wires. And, I guess it turned out ok. I get complements from electrical engineers so I suppose I did a good job. But in reality you never see it. So as long as you can figure out where each wire goes when maintenance issues pop up then your in good shape. I love my Passenger Warning label. : ). All finished and installed! Tuesday, November 13, 2012. I had some edge distance issues with my upper firewall brackets (WD-1002). They are match drilled through the frames from above and if they are like mine don't line up well enough to leave any reasonable edge distance with the rivets. I even tried using a clamp to pull the tabs into place, but it wasn't enough. So here is how I addressed the problem. This is the upper left hand firewall bracket (WD-1002). View looking up. Wednesday, February 21, 2018. To back up and cover the time from the last report, I picked up Clyda on time at the Las Vegas airport and we drove to Henderson to visit Carl and Janis who lived near us until Janis retired. We had a nice visit and later went out to eat at their Golf Club. Nice to visit with good friends. On Monday morning we left Las Vegas and drove to Quartzsite with a stop at Needles for lunch where I introduced Clyda to Carl’s Jr $5 lunch. We shared one. Launching a Chinese lantern.

Now that the wingtips were fit to the wings, I could begin installing the lights and other misc things that are going in there. First, I am installing the Van’s wingtip landing light kit. Since I already have landing lights in the leading edges of the wings, I’m going to use this kit for taxi lights. Once that was installed, I really liked the look of bare aluminum plate, so I decided to install another aluminum plate behind the nav/strobe lights, to keep the entire light pocket looking the same. Apr 30, 2015. After leaving the Badands, (and hitting up Wall Drug. On our way out) we headed east for a short stay in Palisades State Park. It was our first taste of home, right on the edge of the Midwest. We camped amid deciduous trees and enjoyed cool evenings and warm campfires.
