Playing with my new toy. Ever since my Canon point-and-shoot broke a few months ago,. I'd been going through withdrawal. My niece's even simpler camera did the trick when necessary,. But I wanted to get back to normal. This is so much better than normal! After Christmas I bought a Canon DSLR, the Rebel T3. Just a step above a point-and-shoot but the options are amazing. Particularly like the image stabilizer lenses and macro features. Here are shots from my first few days with it. Links to this post.

Based on what is blooming in my yard,. My gardening attempts are either a failure or a success. It's all in how you see it. Be sure to click the photos to see larger views.). This is my only wisteria bloom for the year. It's also only the second one ever from the four plants. We planted at least 10 years ago. I thought the plant it is on was a clematis. Dreaming of a house. A few weeks ago I drove past a house I love, the one above. Not that we are looking to move, but I still like to look. Bright white paint and pretty green shutters. Bagpipes (and drums) are our life. We've spent most of the last nine summers. Involved in the pipe band community. That's half of the time we have been parents as our oldest. Is now 18 and heading to college. That's him, third from left, playing snare for Oran Mor,. One of only a few Grade One bands from the United States. My piper just turned 14 and has been playing for about 4 years. He's the tall one in the back. And our newest competitior, is the 10yo tenor drummer. And here is the youngest who is six.

Second attempt at spinning. What an improvement with my second attempt at spinning. Thinner and more even yarn. No more of that thick-and-thin yarn. Unless that is what I am going for specifically. I've had the lime green roving since last fall. And brought the bamboo silk yarn more recently. With plans to make myself a shawl. Amazing results when the two of them are plied together! Click for larger images). Like my new "model? She is a bisque penny doll and so adorable. Many pieces of waffle weave and damask tea towels in all white. A few are embroidered and monogrammed like this one. A lot of doilies with a variety of needlework techniques. Not in perfect condition but still very usable.
