Saturday, March 13, 2010. USE OF A DICHOTOMOUS KEY FOR EASY INSECT ID. Now I can tell your eyes are already starting to glaze over and you are considering skipping reading this blog entry. DON’T! This is a really easy way to narrow down the possibilities when identifying an unknown insect. So let’s say you find an unknown insect-like critter in your garden. You can first ask yourself (or the bug), “Do you have 8 legs or only 6 (or maybe a whole lot)? Using this key is a way to eliminate what it cannot be...

http://hillcountrybuglady.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 9, 2010. FLESH EATING BEETLES ON SMITHSONIAN PAYROLL. The Dermestid beetles of which there are between 500 and 700 species, are members of the Coleoptera order and can range in size from 1 to 12 mm. They are also known as skin beetles, larder beetles, hide or leather beetles and carpet beetles. While they can be very destructive to household items, fortunately they are not very widespread. Simple housekeeping practices will prevent problems. Hill Country Bug Lady. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Russell Hill Ranch: Oh I Am so Happy!

http://russellhillranch.blogspot.com/2013/02/oh-i-am-so-happy.html

Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Oh I Am so Happy! I just put the last of the panels on the greenhouse today. Yesterday was way to warm to get all that we needed to do to finish it all. I think it was 80 and being in the corner of two buildings it was really warm. A little progress on the planting situation, I did plant all my onions so they will be taking off soon. With the rain predicted tonight and tomorrow that will be oh so good. They have plenty of alpaca poop to enrich to soil as well. Oh I Am so Happy!

http://russellhillranch.blogspot.com/2013/07/life-is-good-s.html

Sunday, July 14, 2013. Here is my first pattern. Can you tell if it is a small quilt or a full size one? If not then good. Besides working on my small quilt patterns I. Here is part of what I am doing. This is what I have done so far. I am thinking how wonderful this might be in Holiday colors. My mind is spinning. So here is Margaret's quilt. I love the colors and the design is close to Burgoyne's Surrender. Here is a close up of the quilting. I did swirls because the fabrics had swirl patterns.

Russell Hill Ranch: In the Garden Again.

http://russellhillranch.blogspot.com/2012/02/in-garden-again.html

Friday, February 10, 2012. In the Garden Again. I planted peas last week and they are popping up. Today I planted beets and Bob and I planted onions. I know it is late for the onions but that should be ok. The soil is still cool almost cold. We got more rain last night and may get more this weekend which is good for planting. I am trying a planting method I used years ago when I lived in MA. I was reminded of it by someone a few weeks ago and just wonder if it will work for me again. My Favorate Blog List.

Sunday, May 15, 2011. What a glorious day in May. Thursday, May 5, 2011. It has been a long time since I have written. Yes 2010's winter was a rough one, we even had 6" of snow but this years winter was even worst. What the grasshoppers didn't kill the 2 weeks of below freezing did. Russell Hill Ranch: So Where Did Winter Go?

http://russellhillranch.blogspot.com/2013/02/so-where-did-winter-go-i-always-look.html

Thursday, February 7, 2013. So Where Did Winter Go? I always look forward to time after Christmas to do some of those jobs I could not finish before the heat of summer hit. So January was cold and I do mean cold and windy and darn right nasty. And now we are looking at recorder breaking temps. Good grief. Check bag in a little while and with any luck there will be photos of a completed greenhouse with some plants inside. Good luck on your greenhouse, it sounds wonderful! February 8, 2013 at 5:11 AM.
