Argentina - To Buenos Aires

Argentina - To Buenos Aires. The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Apr 15, 2009. Cycling over 2 hours through grapevines and wineries. The small, winding road was packed with trucks, overloaded with grapes. We looked back, and barely saw the Andes Mountain range, disappearing. After many kilometers of desert, we reached Difunta Correa. A small oasis (with contaminated water), a famous pilgrimage site; part of the local Christian mythology. The chewiest meat we ever chewed.

India - Why and How...

http://indiahimalayasbtwhyandhow.blogspot.com/2009/11/7-years-ago-while-traveling-in-india-on.html

India - Why and How. The India Himalayas Bicycle Trip. Back to the India Himalayas bicycle trip. May 15, 2009. 7 years ago, while traveling in India on our Royal Enfield. We encountered a couple with a young child, cycling the Manali-Leh road. A day later, we already forgot about it, and like most people didn’t understand what cycle-touring means. So… we had plane tickets. 8230; we had a visa. 8230; we had our bicycles ready. Or so we hoped…. We went shopping in Buenos Aires, with our credit card in our ...

http://indiahimalayasbtmanalileh.blogspot.com/2009/10/blog-post.html

The India Himalayas Bicycle Trip. Back to the India Himalayas bicycle trip. Jul 30, 2009. We were ready to leave Manali. We were packed and Rami was back from the German bakery with bread, pie and toilet paper (where else do people buy toilet paper? Raj charged him only for the toilet paper; the bread and pie were a goodbye gift. He was in tears, seeing his best customer cycle away. D&T on the Manali-Leh route. Gals shoulder was far from %100, but it was time to leave Manali…. On the way we met Nikolaus ...

India - Taking mom to India

http://indiahimalayasbttakingmomtoindia.blogspot.com/2009/05/blog-post.html

India - Taking mom to India. The India Himalayas Bicycle Trip. Back to the India Himalayas bicycle trip. May 9, 2009. We landed in Delhi, on April 16th, 24 hours after we left Buenos Aires, Argentina. We took a taxi to Taks’ place (a Warm-Showers member), arriving after midnight. A short introduction, a quick conversation, Dana was already a sleep, and we went to bed. We woke up, ready to attack our first project: taking mom to India (Our second project was cycling the Indian Himalayas). Later, when Rami...

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Apr 15, 2009. We cycled 15 months in a world of Spanish; literally a world of Spanish. As cycle-tourists, spending most of their traveling BETWEEN one touristy place to another, we were forced into this world. The food is in Spanish (" Perro caliente. 8211; hot dog), the music is in Spanish (non Spanish music doesn’t exist), even the movies are in Spanish (Schwarzenegger speaking Spanish – " Hasta la vista. Argentina - Ruta 40

Argentina - Ruta 40. The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Mar 18, 2009. A long first night 08/02/09. We tried hitching a truck. Crossing Paso De Jama. Didn’t turn out as we planned. Rami, with his swollen knee, could barely help Gal pack the camp. We took our time. Going back to San Pedro De Atacama, Chile, would do us no good – a tiny village with no facilities, and, why go back? We were on the way to Argentina! We waited about 2 hours for a hitch to civilization.

Mexico - Baja California

Mexico - Baja California. The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. February 18, 2008. Jim escorted/guided/joined us to the border. It was a calm sunny morning, our last 40km of good roads, wide shoulders and American-courteous drivers. We departed from Jim our host, savior, and new friend just at the border, before the Mexican formalities. The bits we saw of Tijuana were not interesting, a 3’rd world country city, distorted by too many US tourists, crossing the border...

Chile - The North. The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Feb 8, 2009. Bienvenidos a Chile 17/01/09. We arrived to Chile immigration, a modern complex, as expected. The Peruvian side was also modern and came as a surprise. We quickly ate all our fresh food (not allowed to be taken into Chile). We tried our best but were sad to leave 2 garlic heads behind…. At the border we met a few motorcyclists (about 10 past us during the whole day! Today we celebrated a year in Latin ...

Costa Rica

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. July 10, 2008. We loaded our gear on the large Lancha, up in front. The boat was full with passengers, but as the boat started moving, everybody fled to the back of the boat, hiding from the light rain, so we had room for the bikes and we sat comfortably with the best views. The boat ride was beautiful. We saw millions of birds and even a monkey (finally, our first monkey). The vegetation was remarkable. Everybody grumpy in the boat.
