Navigating by the stars. Finding my way through life, faith and Home Education. Monday, 7 May 2012. Do you think I should have denied how I felt or somehow made myself feel different? To those who judge I would ask: do you know of what you speak? Do you think that you know me better than I know myself? To those of you who have loved me, who have listened, who have asked with respect, and who have smiled with me as I have chosen life, I thank you. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Navigating by the stars. Finding my way through life, faith and Home Education. Tuesday, 26 February 2013. Reviewing the Twelve - Numbers One and Two. I am still revelling in our connection to the internet; the easy access to information and communication is delighting me anew. We are thinking through our use of, and time spent on, the web and are planning to find a way to keep the space we have found through not having constant access while being clear and focussed about what it is we can use it for.

Navigating by the stars. Finding my way through life, faith and Home Education. Wednesday, 12 June 2013. When they are excited about grasping vertically opposite angles, or proving the formula for interior angles or writing an essay comparing Shakespearean sonnet form to Spenserian, my confidence flashes for a moment and is gone, like a match flame. When they are bored, or sneaky, or ungracious, or can't recite their times-tables, the slow-burn of my fear deepens. Reasons I Home Educate. Trying to find Me.

Trying to be Me: October 2013
http://trying-to-find-me.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Trying to be Me. Friday, 18 October 2013. So I should be saying Happy 67th Birthday today! But I am not am I, you ensured you stayed 66 forever - that is an extreme way of not getting anymore grey hairs! I cannot imagine how you thought suicide would be the answer. I cannot imagine how you could have thought that being dead would have had anything but a negative effect on your two remaining children and all your grandchildren. Did you have any awareness that this is how it would leave me feeling? Has not...

Trying to be Me: November 2014
http://trying-to-find-me.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Trying to be Me. Wednesday, 26 November 2014. It Sucks Being a Grown-up. Do you ever have those moments when you want to be able to throw a tantrum and have everyone just leave you alone, or maybe someone just gently distract you with something nice to help you get over it? That got me thinking. As adults/parents we take on the role of teaching the younger generation by how we act/behave, whether we are aware of it or not. This means we are modelling our good AND our bad behaviour. 983 Piles of fabric.

Trying to be Me. Sunday, 23 February 2014. Picture from goggle images. Have you ever been so tired that the longing of getting into bed consumes all your thoughts? At the moment I am having to rely on medication to get me to sleep. The only other solution that works is alcohol, though this sleep is usually very short lived! Then other nights I can be convinced that my daughter and the dog have visited me in the night and have to take my husbands word for it that they didn't. In the past I have never been...

To see how many words one could write in 10 minutes! Or could it be that since getting my tablet it is far easier to just surf around and not type anything? And most of the worlds population do not have enough to eat! Ps just so you know the answer is 595 - not to shabby I have to say! Wednesday, 21 May 2014. Over near San Diego, CA. It really is...

http://trying-to-find-me.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Trying to be Me. Thursday, 28 August 2014. There is a little part of me that goes eeeek what am I doing, however I am working very hard to box that feeling away, I do not want it to spoil the good stuff. I had already had a good talk to myself about not trying to do too much, there was no reason to do this as I will be coming past this place many more times yet. So I thought I would take a few pictures to show you my trip. I tried to pretend it wasn't starting to rain and in my summer short sleeve blouse...

Trying to be Me. Tuesday, 30 September 2014. So would not be the normal run of the mill high street shops. This didn't bother me at all, I knew the price tags would be high and the chances of finding a dress for my daughter small. I have always loved well designed fashion. For years when I was in my late teens I subscribed to Vogue magazine and often made myself clothes using Vogue designer patterns. In fact this was my very favourite:. There is something about good quality fabric and unique designs!

Trying to be Me: March 2014
http://trying-to-find-me.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Trying to be Me. Friday, 7 March 2014. At the end of January she had a review with her CPN, I had spoken to the cpn before the meeting to inform her that mum wasn't washing and was spending most of her time in bed. During the review, mum was very quiet but voiced her anxiety about the move and life in general. So now, what do I do? How much time do I invest in this? Trying to discern the right course of action to take has been exhausting. Fortunately I have been able to talk through with my counsello...

Learning, laughing and loving together. 8 Things I Wish I’d Known When We Started Homeschooling. May 8, 2017. When we started homeschooling seven years ago, the only other homeschoolers I knew lived five thousand miles away. My instinct told me that public school was the wrong environment for my son, who at four years old was already known as ‘the naughtiest boy in the class’. And my intense daughter (six), clearly needed more downtime than her busy schedule could provide. To continue reading. 🙂. If Jas...

Navigating by the stars. Finding my way through life, faith and Home Education. Tuesday, 22 April 2014. Looking back, looking forward. Change can come suddenly, unexpectedly, catastrophically. Change can creep slowly, erosion over time, unnoticed until comparison with the past forces focus. Today, it was the cheese. As I ate my lunch and my supermarket Stilton, I had a moment of regret, of noticing. Candles and shovels when we're snowed it. Dinner at The Farmer's Arms. Old hats and scarves for snowmen.

navigatingbythestars | Just finding my way
Just finding my way. July 5, 2012. I thought I missed blogging and I thought I’d be glad to get back into it but it’s been, what, a week? It’s a sign of how fragile life is right now. Last Tuesday a normal rush out of the house turned into an all-out fight, a broken day, and nearly a week of rebuilding. So easy to see the steps that got us there, so difficult to change them in the moment. Progress towards Maths and Biology iGCSE. Cycling including sponsored ride to Kingston. Trip to Italy and France.

Thoughts sailing through my head and my voyage in this life. Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Home from Vacation and Death. So the family spent 5 days in Mrytle Beach, SC this past week and that was great. Loved watching the kiddos play in the water and make sandcastles. Owen really had a good time boogie boarding and so did Elizabeth. Bella had a lot of fun running into the shallowest part of the water and then running to hide behind my legs and hold on when bigger waves rolled ashore. Wednesday, March 11, 2009.
