Jim's: July 2007

http://www.sourdoughjims.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 21, 2007. I've been back at work a week now, after a lovely trip to Wisconsin (see some photos of the trip here: http:/ picasaweb.google.com/SpiritHillWoodworks/JimCarlAndJeffVisitWisconsin. Since I have a finite, actually tiny, amount of vacation time available annually, I'm torn between using it up with a few long weekends up there alone to do work, or saving up for an entire year so I can be up there for 2 weeks. At least I have options! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

We love to travel but are terrible at timely trip reports. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Chicago: Oktoberfest, family, and David's B-Day! Melissa) - At the Dryer family reunion in Tampa. Last February Kim, Kristin, Uncle David, and I got talking about how we should try to meet up more often. We thought Oktoberfest in Chicago could be a great destination and put out the invite to the Webers too. Miraculously, instead of just talking about it, we actually planned it and did in fact meet up. By Saturday Barb...

We went to the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park (just outside Rocky Mountain National Park). I had. Never heard of it before, but Anita being a horror movie buff wanted to stay here one night on our trip to Colorado. I am so glad she did! Never heard of it either? Being tourists we explored the hotel. While we never saw any ghosts, ...

On the road again . and again. and again. Well, things are really starting to shape up. First and foremost I think it is worth mentioning that all of my misgivings and any bad-mouthing I may have given to the Albuquerque Service Center were misplaced. To date they have been very prompt and helpful, a complete change from what I was expecting. But they were hardly the only piece of the process which had potential to perturb (all hail alliteration! Done, done and done. And finally, I was given and accepted a formal offer to the AFMO for the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest and Pawnee National Grassland North Zone. There are no real details at this time. There is one administrivial element which must be satisfied before I am considered an actual employee of the Forest Service and I have been told to expect all other information sometime around the middle of July (no guff). We love to travel but are terrible at timely trip reports. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Relaxing Weekend in the Silver Island Mountains. Melissa) - A long weekend and a new tent, David and I really wanted to camp. The problem? So does everyone else in Utah. We tried to come up with a destination that would be uncrowded so we could get a camp site. David came up with the idea of the Silver Island Mountains, a mountain range right on the Utah/Nevada border. Boy was it ever uncrowded! A site showcasing our trav...

We love to travel but are terrible at timely trip reports. Friday, February 27, 2009. Melissa) - Jason Davis (39), Diana Davis (40), and Stephen Dryer have an exciting discussion about water heaters, specifically tankless water heaters. A true sign of growing up and becoming a homeowner is that something so oblique can be of such great interest.
